I thought of that too. My cam was ground at Delta and the card didnt have much info just the lash,grind number and opening and closings points to check so I called them they said unless other wise...

Thanks for the input. Its a mechanical gauge, just a generic brand at that, but I have not checked it against another mechanical gauge to see if its acurate.

Oil Pressure question on new 8BA
Fresh built 8BA, standard Melling pump, no oil filter mods. When hot the oil pressure is only about 7PSI at idle and 25-35 when cruising at highway speeds (2500 RPM's) and about 15- 20 or so in town...

The Grant rings that came for my Ross pistons were not chrome rings, They were part number P2360.000 listed in their catalog as: plain cast, racing overbore 3.313 for 239 motor.

My Ross pistons came with Grant rings. I dont think Ross would use a poor quality ring. I agree that rings will seal up better if broken in under a good load.

After closer inspection and cleaning up both surfaces this area looks suspect to me. On the head surface there seems to be a little bit surface degradation from corrosion. what do you guys think?

Ok so I tried the test described above, the left bank did push water out and showed some bubbles. (After a few minutes the right bank also pushed a little out but nowhwere near as much as the left...

Thanks I have a set of Graphtite gaskets here Ive already retorqued the heads,there were a few that were backed of a bit but it didnt change anything. Im going to try to find someone to do a sniffer...

Thanks guys, I have a leakdown tester I will try that too, but its odd it wont produce any bubbles at idle or even revving in nuetral. I've been fighting this for a long time been thru the cap...
