Re: New Flathead “Steaming” Exhaust

When you torqued the head bolts, did you follow the sequence recommended in the manual? You probably did but just checking on that.

Holley 94 jets

The Holley 94 8RT truck carb I just took apart had 52 jets in it. I have read on here that 51 jets are recommending and that is what I have in it now. Would I see a performance increase with 52...

Holley 94 float setting

Tinkering with the float setting on an 8RT Holley 94. Three questions for the experts:

1. I set the float to 1 11/32 without the gasket. Should I set to 1 11/32 with the gasket? With gasket on...

Re: Holley 94 throttle shaft

Yes that is how I did it and it was still hard as rock LOL! I didn’t get it as hot as I normally would, I was afraid of annealing too far down the shaft and causing early shaft wear.

Re: Holley 94 throttle shaft

I plated out the accelerator lever this morning. I chucked the shaft up in a vise with two oak pieces and slowly peened out the shaft with a trim hammer. I worked back and forth on peening it and...

Re: Holley 94 throttle shaft

Thank you Charlie. I annealed the end of the shaft and have a few air hammer bits that I think will work. The vise part is what concerns me, I do not want to oblong it with too much tension. I will...

Re: Holley 94 throttle shaft

Thanks Gary, originals seem to have a deeper hole drilled in the end for a better mushroom. I was thinking the same on the vise with an air hammer. Figured somebody on here has done this with good...

Holley 94 throttle shaft

I have a new Holley 94 throttle shaft. Fits really nicely in the throttle bore with zero play. The lever needs to be peened onto the shaft end. How would be the best way to do this without damaging...

Re: 8RT carb rebuild

I trued up the carb base and bottom base. Those meet nicely and I see no light. On the air horn to carb base, I had to true it also. Started with 220 on a sanding block and worked up to 1000 grit....

8RT carb rebuild

I am rebuilding an 8RT carb that I picked up on eBay. It looked pretty good and still had the tag so I figured it wasn’t too worn out. It has a lot of play in the throttle shaft, a 0.281 door pin...

Re: Fan Belt Tension Adjuster....

We had good luck using an engine hoist and a strap to set the tension on the generator and fan belt. I think I picked that up over on FTE.

generator case question

Rebuilding a spare generator for an 8BA. Can the inside of the case and coil shoes be painted or do those need to be shiny metal against the armature?

Re: F1 Radio issue

I added the generator suppressor and voltage regulator suppressor this morning and still had the issue. Then I added the coil noise suppressor and changed out the vibrator to a new solid state unit...

Re: F1 Radio issue

Definitely a noise problem. Radio works fine with clutch pushed in rolling and idling, but under power comes in and out. I picked up noise suppressors for the generator, coil, and voltage regulator....

Re: F1 Radio issue

I don’t think it’s a bad breaker Ross, the heater works fine. Pete will try the ground first, I think that is the issue. I laid some thick epoxy primer under the dash so I don’t think it’s making...

Re: F1 Radio issue

Radio is still cutting in and out. Sent it back to the shop and they tested it, found no issues! Makes me think I have a bad ground. If I have a bad ground, would that cause me to pull more amps,...

Re: 51 f1

That sounds terrible. If the sound you heard was made while you were turning into the parking spot, I wander if you have an issue in the rear axle, like a chipped tooth in the spider gears?

I am...
