Re: Sandblasting a 28 Roadster Door

Rather than using a sand blaster, you might want to see if you can fit the door into a bead blasting cabinet. By using the smaller nozzle in the bead blaster you should be able to get into a lot...

Re: My Clutch Job Observations

It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you are getting into.

A few comments,
1) many of the clutch disc installed in the Model A did not have springs in the center of the disc. This...

Re: Distributor worth rebuilding?

I would never try to rebuild a core like that. I believe you would be wasting your time and money.

The real question that comes to mind is why did this crack happen in the first place. I would...

Re: Weird Question

If you remove the spark plugs you should be able to rotate the crankshaft by turning the fan. Use the timing pin in the front cover to find TDC.

Re: Weight of a Model A engine

If my memory serves me right, the weight of a complete Model A engine is about 430 pounds, without the transmission, flywheel, or bellhousing

Re: 2 Cylinders Not Firing Update

If it will run, you may want to try a little WD 40 around the intake manifold gasket near the front two cylinders. If you have a intake gasket leaking you may not have adequate fuel to the cylinder...

Re: Cracked Block Options

My Model A also has a crack in this area. It is not as large as yours, but it is in the exact same place. In most cases this is caused by freezing. In my experiences, it is not uncommon to find...

Re: Distributor Ignorance and HIGH Level of frustration

My personal experience with distributors has been rather challenging also.

I removed the distributor to enable me to better examine the components. I also used a volt meter / continuity tester...

Re: lutch Chatter

In my opinion, the most common problem is exactly what Tom Endy said. A poor quality clutch disc. A poor quality or poorly adjusted pressure plate would be second, and the third most likely problem...

Re: Yard sale "A" project

Berts in Colorado has an early 1930 Murray on there website for $6000.00. It is complete! Runs and drives, and you would still have a lot of fun doing a restoration while still being able to use the...

Smile Re: Yard sale "A" project

I completely agree !

You have at least $500.00 in parts in the doors, rear fenders, hood, radiator shell, and frame. Before spending a lot of money on parts for this project, you may want to...

Re: Rear end question

I personally would not pack these with grease. The thickness of the grease might give you some interesting readings when younger trying to adjust and set it up. I would put a light coating of oil...

Re: Is Macs under new management?

There are better parts vendors than Mac's. I have ordered from them twice since they changed owners. Both times were very problematic.

The first order was sent somewhere else, and the order I...

Re: engine missing ---thoughts needed

If you remove the spark plugs you can see the valves through the spark plug hole in the head. I believe you are correct when you were thinking a stuck valve may be causing your problem. If you see...

Re: Just removed 31 torque tube

I do not know what the situation is like now, but at one time the quality of the repro bearing and sleeve in the front of the torque tube was very poor. Before removing the original race check with...

Re: Without picts. it's hard to say, looking for rough value of mint original fenders

Since you have an original early production car, I would keep these parts so you can bring it back to original if you decide to do so in the future.

Re: Antique car dealerships

The museum in Murdo is a long time family business. (At least three generations). Many of their museum cars are leased and not owned by them. They also buy and sell cars and parts. They have an...

Re: Knock, knock

Was it knocking before the timing gear was replaced? If not, you may want to check your work. It is pretty easy to remove the front cover compared to getting into other areas of the engine. If you...

Re: Why do you own a Model A?

I was first exposed to Model A's when I was 14 years old. I had a very patient mentor that taught me a lot about life while we were around these cars. We went to swap meets, auction sales,...

Re: Not showing our cars anymore?

I used to go to many car show each year with my Model A. However, due several occasions of rude spectators and damage to my A, I no longer participate in any of them. I do not find it enjoyable to...
