Model A Registration Woes

Today I went to look at a 1931 Model A that is for sale. I liked it, it is a good ten footer in very good running condition. The price was negotiated and I am happy with it. This is the situation:...

Re: Sudden rough running, out of ideas

These are very good suggestions to follow up on. You might try running the engine in the dark to see if there is any arcing around the coil, distributer or plugs which would result in a miss fire....

Re: Ignition Switch Help

I have worked on an ignition switch and it was not a reward experience! I did get it back together and it did work. The back plate is a crimp over and you have to take a small bladed screw driver and...

Re: Zenith Carb Rebuild

The secondary well must be screwed all the way down until it stops. Otherwise, the idle jet will be crushed when you put the carburetor together. Have you flow tested your jets to make sure the...

Re: Remove inner oil pan

The easiest of all way is to place a C-clamp inside the oil pump opening and lay a 2x4 in. piece of wood across the top of the oil pan. Simply wind up the C-clamp and out pops the dipper try. Ed

1931 Slant Cabriolet Body Plate

I am pretty sure that the body number plate that is below the patent data plate was a yellow or golden color. I have misplaced it! The cowl is painted and I want to mount a new body number plate that...

Re: Data plate rivet holes don't line up

I experienced this problem also. Like Bob has suggested, I elongated the holes and found that the heads of the rivets did cover the holes in the plate. You may have to elongate all four holes in the...

Re: Zenith 2 tip

I picked up an 11 mm. deep socket at Home Depot and it seems like it will do the job. Ed

Re: Stubborn Zenith

I would flow test the idle jet to be sure it is passing 44-48 ml/min. with a 36 in. water column test jig per Steve Pargeter's recommendations in his manual "Zenith Model A Carburetor Restoration...

Re: Zenith float level ... Model A

Most of the published data on float level recommends the level 5/8 in. below the machined surface of the lower casting. Having said that, know that the gas level in the Main and Cap jets is right...

Re: Black fender paint

I like to use acrylic urethane jet black (gloss) from TCP Global @ $59.96 per quart. Beautiful smooth gloss finish that looks like you could jumb into a black hole! Ed

Re: towing to start a 1917 T

My 1914 Model T must be hand cranked also. It doesn't start as easily as I would like it and the reason is that the compression is only 42# - 45#. However, Retard the Spark, open the throttle wide...

Re: Buying a Model T

Hello Jedediah, I was in your shoes in 2006. I was restoring a 1932 Coupe and had nothing to drive. I watched for Ts on the internet and found a 1914 Touring Car that was used for tours in my state...

Re: Interesting read in Hemmings about restoration costs.

An earlier post mentioned that TCP Global has the original paint codes. I did obtain two spray out samples ($35.00 ea.) for the Kewannee and Elkpointe Green. They were too dark and muddy looking....

Re: Trans oil leaking from speedo housing

You should also keep and eye on the level in the rear end. The oil may find its way back there also, get the level too high in the banjo and find its way into your rear brakes. I like to keep my rear...

Re: 1931 Cabriolet Slant Windshield Painting

Thank you for the reply but that is not what I am asking. The tank is installed and the welting provides the separation between the two colors. The Paint Guidlines manual does not specify the color...
