53 Customline Steering Colums Bracket

I am piecing together a 53 Customline and am curious about the steering column bracket. This is an Australian delivered car.

In the picture you see a gap on the RH side.

I am going through the clutch pushrods on a '53 Customline.

The bolts are stepped and use wave washers.

The hole that the bolts are inserted into are "D" shaped.

It all looks a bit odd.

After some trial and error and some straightening of these brackets this is the arrangement I have come up with. Seems to achieve what is set out in the drawing.

Rear Main Seals

I have purchased a Fel Pro rebuild gasket set and it contains both the rope style rear main seal and the newer black graphite seals. This is to suit an 8BA.

Not having experienced the black seals...
