Re: Question about selling A parts

For something hard to ship such as core motors, I would go with something local; like facebook marketplace or Craigslist.

Re: What years are these hydraulic backing plates???

Kinda makes you wonder what's inside.

If the car stops OK other than the low pedal; I would just do the "normal" adjustment to the top cam bolts.

The lower cams are usually only set during the...

Re: Filling a brakes system

The power bleeder (Bendix) I used in the past had a diaphragm between the fluid and the pressurized air; I was taught this was to keep from entraining air into the fluid.

These new bleeders don't...

Re: receiving paypal payments

As times were changing; I ended up having to run down to the "ghetto" post office to cash higher dollar money orders. They always seemed to have a full cash drawer on Fridays.

Re: 1935/36 roof tack strip

The original stuff on my coupe looked like twisted paper rope stuff that the first layer of fabric was tacked down on. Of course most of it was gone.

I ripped some strips out of "plastic" wood...

Re: Hub/Drum Separation

I usually just torch the heads off the studs and drive them out from the inside; easier than using a swage cutter on this style and you don't have to worry about cutting too deep into the flange.

Re: Portable power for lightss, sm pwr equipt

I would look at good battery tools (like the Milwaukee M18 line) and battery powered (or rechargeable) LED work lighting.

Less hassle than running a generator and quieter overall.

Re: Floor shift in 53 f-100

I put a Fenton floor shift conversion on one forty or fifty years ago, when it was a pretty common occurrence. Probably more work to find a kit now-a-days than to do the install.

Re: Drum brake ID

Another clue; the F-1 bolt pattern is square and clocked to rotate the backing plates rearward. This results in the plates being side specific.

Re: 51 Merc brakes replace

I learned a long time ago that reusing brake springs will result in come-backs. The springs cycle every time the brakes are applied and eventually they will fatigue and either let the brakes hang or...

Re: Cutting down 42 to 48 ford axles for a 40 ford

When the subject of axles come up I always have to think about all the "useless at the time" axles that were used for tent stakes (think circus size tents).

Re: Can't separate axle shaft from carrier

Maybe saw most of the axle off and try the hammer again; maybe losing some force in the "spring" of the full axle length. If no help, it will at least be easier to fit in a press.

Re: brake problem

What kind of Bendix brakes?

What adjustment procedure are you using?

Anchor pin adjusted to center the shoes?

Adjust the brakes tight and see where the pedal goes.
