I got the flywheel and pressure plate back from the machine shop.

I cleaned the carbon off the top of one piston and found it's already 0.070" over. Bore gauge showed an additional 0.0165"...

So I took the flywheel and pressure plate to a local machine shop (MulletWagon - about 1.5 miles from Upper Heyford!) and they're going to reface the flywheel. They took a look at the pressure plate...

No noise. Out of the ordinary. I was in an A with a worn out clutch this summer and it's quite a distinctive smell. There were a few whiffs of that smell, but nothing too significant.

The pedal travels 1.5" to 2" up from the floorboard before it starts to bite.

I've peered in through the inspection hole and can't make out much of any importance....

Thanks for the replies guys. It's actually a Danish car with the proper 201ci engine and all. The generator was on the car when I got it, but the cut out was only half there and that half was rusty....

I seem to have a later generator with the ribbed aluminium front plate and ventilated rear plate. I've cleaned up and re-adjusted the cut out switch. Finally, I now have current, but it's too high...
