Be careful where you take the drums to be turned. Turning the rear drums is a lost art at most brake shops. They can turn the front drums using tapered cones, but when they try to turn the rear drums...

Check to see if your gas cap has rotated internally and blocked off the vent hole. Start the car up with the gas cap off and see if it will continue to run.

My experience has been that it is important that all six mounting bolts be torqued down evenly with the two .010 shims installed under the top two mounting bolts in order to get a proper measurement....

My recommendation is to install a Mitchell 26% overdrive. This will give you many advantages. High gear overdrive for going above 45 mph comfortably and second gear overdrive for going up and down...
