My car was similar after sitting for awhile p.o. Used ethanol gas and after sitting unstarted for a few weeks inside of carburetor rusted up .Blew it out and also use small wire to clean passages...

Hello, make sure you have large diameter battery cables , can’t answer the amount of draw , but the older 6 volt system are larger than the 12 volt, the small cables are what I first look at on...

You may want to get a 0 to 1 inch micrometer and measure the existing gaskets so they can be replaced with the same thickness.

Almost forgot how good are the kingpins can get a lot of play out of them if bushing are worn often don’t get changed as required reaming . Often people aren’t familiar with them so they get ignored.

Could also be wear on steering balls,about the only alignment that can be adjusted is the tie rod ends every thing else is a bending operation.

Probably the 17 inch wheels may have something to do with it,I had 16 inch wheels on a 30 Coupe and they would rub on extreme turns.

Hello again, as I mentioned I plan to build a Burtz engine with the high compression head , I can understand those wanting an original engine and appreciate those that have built up high points cars....

Hello I have a burtz block on order and plan to build it stock but with higher compression head . Had bad experience with engine shops locally only seem interested in Chevrolet race engines still...

Hello a number of those who drive there car change out the original grease fittings with modern type , Snyders , among other suppliers carry them in both press in and screws in applications.

Hello on mine I had to grind down some of the cast end diameter as the repo aluminum blade was rubbing against it .

One of the hardest things to remove are the spring spindle where they mount thru the front axle ,usually they are worn in the spring shackle bushings some people weld and repair the bushing holes...

Steering arm nut size

Hello in changing my 31 steering arms I noticed a difference on external nut hex size , take offs were 7/8 hex where as replacement are 1 1/16 hex . What is the correct size ? Thank you.

Hello the small but deep bolts may be for the running board splash shield to frame. There are 2 at the extreme end of the shield to frame. They are 1/4 20 if I remember correctly.

I would also say the roadster in 1 st picture is Washington blue riviera blue combination, a 30 31 Deluxe color. Andalusite blue is much darker also is one solid color, belt molding is also the dark...

Hello, I had a 1930 standard roadster that was Andalusite Blue , and it was almost black,the blue was noticeable in bright sunlight. I am not to surprised color chips donít match.Paint has changed...

Ford had an a engine replacement program even then, offered V8 engine replacement in 1933 for the 32 Fords that were hardly a year old! Dealer was to restamp replacement engine with original number,...
