The chrome garnish moldings were part of the Monterey package.
Does your hood ornament have gold wings? (that was part of the package also)

My installation is on a '51 Merc. and I don't have the fender cut-out to tire issues but everything else is virtually the same.
Don't know what a Gambino :confused: notch is but this is my own notch...

The springs are de-arched (have them on mine) and are correct length.
Have you given any consideration to the axles bottoming out on the frame or the driveshaft hitting the tunnel?

When the brake/backer plate is not installed it is simple to disassemble and assemble but when the backer is installed the tooling is used to make adjustments.
Made my own tooling out of 1/4" steel...

Something is binding between the switch/rod and the column shaft.
Whether bent, corroded or just debris causing the binding, only you can determine what it is by dismantling and inspecting....

If you are talking about the (2) shock mount bolts, they are not rivets but 5/16" carriage bolts that are tacked or swaged into a square hole....

Most likely any one of the (4) ports on the top edge of the heads would serve the purpose. (closest to thermostat exit may be best) Keeping in mind that the flathead has two separate cooling systems.

Don't recall any wire anchors on my '51 Merc and the Ford should be the same. Just have to remember to attach a fish line to the old one to pull the new one back.:)

Considering that Ford used the drive in plugs for millions of miles with no issues (known to me)
I chose to use the Dorman 555-010 plugs. No Loc-tite, drive in, 3-4 stake marks....

It's been over 50 years since I owned a '40 Ford but as I recall there is a screw just inside the door edge that goes in at a 45 deg. angle.
