Jeff, I picked up my 2012 Mustang in May 2011, and it is still a 2012.
Many claim 1964 1/2 Mustangs BUT they are ALL 1965 cars.
I can't imagine why someone would claim any Model A Ford is a 1927...

I think you would be wise to take it to an alternator shop for a check of the diodes that work as a voltage regulators.
My alternator goes up to 10 amps at the start and the meter then hangs at zero...

CRACK the line by loosening the nut at the carb, allowing some air out, fuel flow on, and eliminating a probable air bubble induced when you had it apart.

OPTIMA from Bratton is called 6755 and the NECESSARY and OPTIMA specific and required hold down is Bratton 6881
OPTIMA's SKU for their 6 v Red Top Battery is 8010-044

Try obtaining some LOCK (Thin) nuts and see if any of the head bolts can be removed that way. (Two lock nuts, then unscrew)
