yea going thru the trans internals isnt a hard deal. Nows the time to check the clutch shaft and pedal shaft for wear. While its out can inspect and repack the u joint as well.

Yea motor mounts are typically cracked. I was buying them for $1 each at swap meets. Thick steel and easy to weld. Along with everything else mentioned check your frame for sagging and straighten it...

i believe its a left hand thread. There may be 1 or 2 threads sticking out that you can closely examine. They typically arent stuck very hard - soak in some kroil or PB blaster or something for a day...

30-31 gas tank

According to the JS its a Jan 1930 gas tank that was only produced in January before changes were made. Was blasted and primed a long time ago and is in pretty good shape. Small 1" dent on the top...

Also note that the pile of aftermarket spark rods i had were all slightly different lengths which affects where the tube ends up. Yes the flat part should be relatively level.

typically the crank gear is just fine - the cam gear gets chewed up. Its not like a modern engine where you must change both - put a new good cam gear on and go.

synthetic does flow easier than standard oil but slicker i dont know about - the oil gets contaminated from blowby - doesnt matter what...

do you have a intake manifold with the vacuum port on it? might be time to hook up a vacuum gauge while its limping - that can tell you HOW the valves are closing among a bunch of other things.
