Re: Trick to remove OFF ON ignition plate

I am quite sure that you are doing this with the column drop still on the car. That would be the 100% screwed odds that Kube mentioned if you break the top off. I have found that most column drops...

Re: Replacement Door Key w/o key

I believe 32phil likes to have the cylinder as sometimes the pins have enough wear that it can take a bit of finessing to get a good fit. The key may need to be cut a few thousands shallow sometimes.

Unusual Stromberg 48

I saw a 48 carburetor today that appeared to have extra hardware on the main jets that would make them adjustable. ??? It came out of a garage where a stock car driver of the 1940's to 1970's lived....

Re: Helmet distributor an a 4 cylinder

Re: Helmet distributor an a 4 cylinder

I have not learned how to do that Hoop.
The thread was on "Vintage shots from days gone by" page 24. It was posted by LowKat Jan 9, 2010.
Maybe another member with "skills" can do it.

Helmet distributor an a 4 cylinder

I saw an old picture on The Hamb of a Model A with a helmet distributor on the top of the engine. It was mounted vertically with 2 plug wires protruding from each cap. Was this a common "upgrade"?

Re: Sacrificial Anode

Innovation begins when someone tries to improve upon a system or problem. Some things work quite well, like tubman's trashcan condensers. Others may or may not. My hat is off to you tubman for trying...

I was under the impression that a Skip coil would use the same...

Axle taper degree

Do all 32-53 Ford rear axles have the same degree of taper into the hub?
If so, what is the degree?

Re: Installing Rear Hub On A '40

It is termed a "friction fit". Anything between such as oil or grease or ANYTHING,--reduces the friction and will most certainly break the key and probably ruin the axle.
