Re: Luck Selling on this Site?
Someone listed something I was interested in so I sent a private message with some questions. He never responded. Not even a sorry, it's been sold. If you're going to list something, be a good egg...

Re: Model A
The repro starter switch contacts are made from copper, which isn't as springy as the original, which were made of a brass alloy. Sometimes a spark will arc between the stud on the starter and the...

Re: horn wiring. '31
That might be a bandaid fix when the horn is weak when the engine isn't running. When the engine is running the horn is wired directly from the generator cut out, so it would be getting full voltage...

Re: Backfire
Are you running a Tilotson carb? The pot metal used in the Tillys tends to warp. Heat exacerbates the warping. You may be opening up a gap at the mating surface between the carb and intake...

Re: mixing brake shoe linings
I have two Model As, both with cast iron drums. One has bonded, one has woven. I can lock up the rear wheels on both. The one with the woven linings has a somewhat softer pedal feel. That's...

Re: mixing brake shoe linings
It doesn't make sense. If adding one in place of the other lining type makes the brakes work better, wouldn't two of the same that made it better make it betterer? (as Derek Bieri would say)

Re: pulling engine?
In the other hand, removing the engine and trans together means having to remove the shift tower, disconnecting the brake pedal from the rods and probably removing the pedals too to be safe, undoing...

Re: Part ID Help
The first two are from an early 1928 Model A that has the complicated multi piece brake actuating cross shaft.

Re: Suddenly running rough
I had my car start to run rough all of a sudden. I thought it was spark, as it seemed to me one cylinder's spark was weaker than the others. But I ran a compression test and found 2 cylinders down...

Re: Emergency brake actuating lever problem
It's not just the levers that are not interchangeable, the whole parking brake assembly is not interchangeable from side to side. I think you have them switched side to side and installed upside...

Re: Timer Question
The New Day is more forgiving if your timing cover is not aligned. The roller timer will wallow out the timer case if the cover is not aligned (it happened to me). The I have had nothing but good...

Re: Installing rebuilt rear backing plate
Ditto. Sounds like a lot of extra work, but it will save you time and aggravation in the long run. You could take off the parking brake lever and it would be easier to snake the service brake...

Re: removing hubs to replace bearings
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends on how tight the shoes are adjusted to begin with. It couldn't hurt to back off the adjustment. But the bigger issue you'll face is getting the hub off the...

Re: Replacing studs on a rear spare tire mount
Are you talking about the studs on the carrier that the spare tire lug nuts screw onto? I believe they are simply pressed in. I'd use heat and penetrating fluid and a press to get them out.
