It only uses AA batteries if you don't have an alternate source of 12 volts, which you would have in a vehicle.

John LaVoy built a Roadster Pickup using all reproduction parts. He wanted to put a Burtz engine in it, but it wasn't ready when he needed it, so he went with a rebuilt engine.

The Electronic Flasher I have is now several years old and is still working fine. Only thing I don't like about it is that it is totally silent -- no clicking at all. (It only comes 12v Neg ground).

My late 31 Budd cab pickup has a narrow bed. I have no information that would indicate that the narrow bed was other than original to the truck.
