Thank you learned Fodbarners. I understand how they got the name anti-clutch chatter rods which was a side benefit to the principal purpose.

What is recommended for an exhaust pipe wrap ? I will use it on the headers and exhaust pipes that route under the floor boards in the '40 coupe. I have a heater so I don't need anymore than that....

Vern Tardel's book "Building a traditional Ford Hot Rod" does a great job of covering that topic. I followed his calculations, and was pleased with the steering effort, and turning radius.

My shop is a vintage stable, built in 1910. It is rugged post & beam with real 2" x 8" joist on beams & wood columns set on granite pads. The floor is rough sawn under with a 1" x 4" pine floor deck....

Shortening a pitman arm is simple process for a certified TIG welder. Steering parts should be magnafluxed after rework. Even stock parts require it for racing in some classes like vintage midgets.
