Early V8 canister oil filter

I would love to have a discussion with anyone who knows how the oil flows through the filter of an early v8 canister oil filter, that was installed on 1932+ v8s, often as a dealer, after-sale option....

I am looking for the proper gear lube for a 1934-5 one and a half ton truck 4 speed transmission. It doesn't have synchros. I have been told I have to use GL4 gear lube but it's have proven difficult...

Yep, those fenders look perfect compared to what I started with. Can't commit murder, couldn't work on my truck from behind bars! If my truck would have looked even close to yours I would have done...

Thanks for all who replied to my AAB question. The story, photos later. I bought the truck in 1970 from a no. Cal rice farmer who was cleaning out his barn. $50 got me the truck and a 1935 pink slip...
