Re: My Power Steering Control Valve blowed up today

Remove it, mail it to Larres Corp in Minnesota, watch the mail box and reinstall new valve. Read instructions on installation. Then read it again.

Re: The T-Bird was in a rain storm yesterday

I have no idea what the prior owner did to the vacuum wipers in my 55 sedan, but the only time they didn't work was in fifth gear at full throttle at over 6000 feet in the rockies. And the 312 had an...

Re: 1955 Ford ranch Wagon/ Differential Question?

Dobbie, he said it was a nine inch from a 57. If my memory is correct, and he needs bearings, there are two sets available, small and large diameter. Take what you have to the parts store and they...

Re: Why Mushroom head on Lifter

Several years ago, while overhauling a 312, I discovered valve lifters for a 312 were not available anyplace. I asked the machine shop owner to just order me two sets for a Ford tractor. Lifters for...

Re: 1958 332 Fuel Pump

Single action fuel pumps are the same for Y block, 332, 352,360,390, and 427. The easiest to locate may be for a 292 truck from about 62.

Re: 64 Galaxie - raise front seat

Re: proportion valve with disc brk kit

Your master cylinder may be too large. Try one with a 7/8 bore. Or, get all the parts written down and call Master Power brake. Those guys do magic over the phone.

Re: Rear Main

I use a 3/8 drive 3/8 12 point deep socket. On reassembly, I use a dab of sealer on the threads because they go in to where oil lives. I also use a dab of sealer on the very end of the seal holder,...

Re: Timing pointer

Time it with a vacuum gauge. Advance dizzy to maximum vacuum, back off 1/2 inch of vacuum, and lock it down. If it pings under load, back it off more. If not, you are done.

Re: My t-Bird had a noise in rear end?

This happened on the line if parts were short. We could aways upgrade a unit, we could never downgrade. If a unit was upgraded, it cost nothing compared to not building that unit waiting for parts.

Re: General Info

On a passenger car, an FL400 is easier to fit in between the steering and clutch linkage to put on with one hand.

Re: My t-Bird had a noise in rear end?

Noise on pull or coast is one side or the other on the pinion bearing. If it has been doing it for a while, it would also need a ring and pinion gear.

Re: General Info

Fans; nearly all auto and light truck fans from Ford from the late 50's to the mid 90's have the same bolt pattern. The exceptions are the 385 block, and some 300 six engines. Fan spacer and bolts...

Re: Dual Point conversion kit

I ran a dual point Mallory plate in a 56 dizzy back before 1960. It worked great. More recently, I used a Pertronix in a 57 dizzy, but I toasted it after several years. I used stock points after...

Re: Tinnertman Nuts

The frame is assembled up side down, then turned before body drop. The nuts were to prevent the drums from falling off at that point.

Re: 55 Ford v8 overdrive cable routing

I would like to think it would go inboard. Because on my 55, it went outboard, then layed on the pipe and broke because of the heat and cool cycles. It was back far enough that is was not recognized...

Re: 1955 Ranch Wagon Motor Mount question.

Remove the two bolts that hold it to the block. Replace with bolts one inch longer and add a one inch long piece of 1/2 or 3/4 pipe, or tubing.
