Re: Flathead city, Gary Howard, Grants Pass, Or

I would think if you have wanted too long on these type of issues it would be difficult to recover much. With numerous people out fairly large sums of money Gary most likely couldn't come up with it...

Re: Floor shift in 53 f-100

I was thinking the same a rich, yep in the early 60s, LOL. Think you would have to go on ebay or hit up the swap meets to come up with the hardware.

Re: Installing Rear Hub On A '40

When abusing Ford banjo rear ends the axle should brake or twist before a properly installed hub would turn on the axle.

Re: proper coil for 47ford std. engine

If you just want a coil to run it that is not factory original type, a can coil of about 1.5 ohms with no external resistor is what is commonly used. Positive or negative ground doesn't matter on...

Re: Installing brake switch on 1940 master cylinder

At one time Harleys used DOT5 so that switch was the recommended one. But some people seem to have issues with them as well. See post #4.

Re: 1951 auto trans fluid recommendations

It depends on what materials are inside the transmission. What was used in the last rebuild dictates the fluid requirements.

Re: Installing Rear Hub On A '40

How taper fits work is not related to Ford. Taper connections are used in a lot of applications and require surfaces that match well and are clean.

Re: Electric fans

Lot of factors, but a rule of thumb is 2-3 degrees for every psi. For a #13 cap, that would be around 26 to 39 degrees. At sea level that would be around 240 to 250 degrees.

Re: 32 Model B Cabriolet steering adjustment

That is the pre-load adjustment on the bearings, so it has to slide in to increase the per-load and/or out to lower the pre-load. Once it is set it doesn't move. You set it by adjusting the gasket...

Re: Price of cars down, price of parts up

As owners/collectors age there will be more and more vehicles on the market and fewer folks wanting to purchase them. But then, there is always the Hot Rod market!

Too many cars/trucks for sell...

Re: 36 LB. temp ranges, thermostats?

Where does the idea Ford v8s came from the factory without thermostats come from? Running without them is a bad idea for a lot of reasons.

Re: 39 transmission. V12 OD to V8-60????

I believe that some of the stock v60 used even lower gearing. And with a "hopped-up" engine you are shifting the torque curve even futher up the rpm range.
