Re: Repurposing Model "A" Wheels

Ooooo. I have spots at the ends of my deck and under my front stoop where all sorts of critters find their way in to over the years. This would be a more attractive approach than my current use of...

Re: Great experiences at Snyders and Burts

I have loved working with both of these suppliers in the past. Both have their niche as well I feel. Bert's was able to find an original battery box for my late '28 that was different than anything...

Re: Ammonia instead of carb cleaner?

Cleaned mine with a few cycles on my ultrasonic using Pine-Sol after picking up the trick from YouTube. Worked amazingly well. Shop smelled fresh for a long time as well. :D

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

As with all things I adjust my expectations with the data I receive. I am starting to lean towards a short block rebuild that seems to run in the neighborhood of $3k or so (I'll save my paper route...

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

Yeah - always a possibility but I haven't shown the final patch for a reason - because this second time I did it I took the approach "I will be damned if it leaks again" and it's not pretty but it's...

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

I was not aware of this product. Thanks to you and BRENT in 10-uh-C

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

Just found a pic of it during the process of cleaning it up. This is looking "up" along cylinder 4. It always ends up weeping on the bottom edge of the corner. Right underneath what I assume is the...

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

Nice. Yes this is what I was looking for. I have pictures in the other thread but the crack is along the curve where the side of the casting transitions to the underside of the water jacket. Runs...

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

Apologies.... and yes I didn't include any of those answers as I have already considered them and know where I am at - but of course no one else knows that.

Car is a single family car. Been in...

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

I have a title. The title has the engine number on it. I haven't pulled the cowl to verify the frame number but I know it will match the current engine.

I was frankly told by a few in this hobby...

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

It's not welding...or brazing. It's metal stitching. A cold process. I'm past looking at options. Just interested in specific experience people have with metal stitching.

Re: 1928 Frame questions

I found out that I had a 30/31 front crossmember welded in to my '28 frame many years ago as a repair. Ran in to issues when replacing the radiator last year. Ended up with this thread:...

Metal Stitching my Block

My block was cracked many, many decades before I ever got it. Original to the car and a September '28. We covered it in a previous thread: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299839

I...

Re: Belching Radiator

Makes sense. Visual levels were when cold. I just checked it when I got home. First time I haven’t been able to see the water - just the baffle. Used your idea for a dipstick and used a twist tie. ...

Belching Radiator

This year has been the cooling system issues year.

I am now running a replacement radiator which is believed to be an older Re-cored radiator. I have a leakless pump I installed this spring. I...

Re: Interior original?

I have a '28 tudor survivor. The interior is still original. Here are some pictures of it. No red band.

Re: Wheel failure on Interstate

Yup. That crack from the valve to the edge shows rust on the crack face so it was there for a while.

Re: Using talcum powder with tubes

If you've been careful and sure that it absolutely isn't leaking when under water then it's most likely leaking from the valve. Get a replacement valve core.

Also while under water take a second...

I am a bicycle wheel manufacturer. I have mounted tens of thousands of bicycle tube and tire based systems (as well as glued tubular and sealed tubeless) over the years.

I still use a dusting of...

Radiator Shell Lacing

So help me with some basic understanding then -...

Re: Gas gauge gaskets

Interesting. I put mine together a year ago and it leaked IIRC. I vaguely remember talking to Ken Ehrenhofer who said to put some of the black sealant on. I could be mistaken but pretty sure it was...

Re: Radiator Mounting

That solves it. I'm just going to shim it up so the hood line is correct an the radiator is up off the cross member.
