Re: I am ignorant and proud of it!

Agree..I drove the positive ground vehicles as a kid, but didn't think anything about it. Didn't know better I guess. And, originally the cables wouldn't fit, but probably not the case now, at...

Lightbulb I am ignorant and proud of it!

OK..I just can't connect my grounded battery cable to the positive post of my battery. Physically I can, but not mentally. So, I need to make my 55 F100 6 volt a negative ground system. I don't...

Re: Wiring Ideas

Thanks for all the suggestions. It won't be an easy task. No instructions that I could find. Will have to ohm out each wire if I decide to use it. I think I will reevaluate what I currently have...

Re: Wiring Ideas

That is a possibility. It was just in a container with the truck. Thanks

I will check that out. I did notice that all the wires are solid colors except one.
Thanks

Re: Wiring Ideas

The wires are different colors, but don't really match the shop manual, or other diagrams that I have seen. Except for the lights, I think they are kind of universal as far as color coding.

Wiring Ideas

I found a new wiring harness in a container with my 55 F100. There are no markings on the wires. Are there any procedures to make it somewhat easy, or will it just have to be wire by wire? I have...

Re: Is a ground still a ground

Thanks for the video. I always did like the Tesla coil presentation. Not that I was there. I guess test light probe is more correct. To see if power is present at a certain point. Like test an...

Re: Is a ground still a ground

I have the feeling that if I touch the car I will get shocked. Can you still have a braided ground wire with positive ground? When I use my test light do I connect the clip to the positive battery...

Re: Is a ground still a ground

Thanks for the explanations. Maybe once I get everything connected my fears will be over. I can't wait..

Is a ground still a ground

Positive ground question. For example if I had a map light I wanted to install, and it had a positive terminal and a negative terminal. Would I still just ground the negative terminal, even though...

Re: 55 F100 start button

That is what is confusing me also. But maybe the big trucks are included as bigjob mentioned, they were 12 volts.

Re: 55 F100 start button

It is the 54/55 shop manual. I am not saying they are mentioned together, but just statements in the manual.

Re: 55 F100 start button

Good Job, I could never find one with that corner of the dash..

I agree. I have to run some new wires, and I always liked that start button. It is a tight area to get into though.

Thanks...

55 F100 start button

Should I have a start button on my 55 F100? There is a hole on the left side of the dash that has a metal plug in it. The current ignition switch has the start position on it. The manual does...

Re: Oil Pickup gasket

I am using the 54/55 Shop Manual. I will report my results once I get everything back together. Thanks again.

Re: Oil Pickup gasket

I agree with all your points. I thought the metal built in washer would butt up against the pan, and you add a washer to the outside. If I am reading the shop manual correctly it states to insert...

Re: Oil Pickup gasket

So, in conclusion..pickup tube seal or seals....

1. The Y Block engine book says one inside, and one outside

2. The Ford Shop Manual and IPB show only one on the outside

3. Several...

Re: Oil Pickup gasket

I see what you are saying now. You have to get used to FORD. The actual pickup tube (in pan) has the threaded part, correct? The washer would not fit over that fitting. The threaded part sticks thru...
