Re: temperature readings on.....

The water flow pattern within the radiator may hold the answer as to why the temperature appears hotter at the bottom of the radiator than at the inlet. You didn't give a reading for the top tank. ...

Re: Ad Scams

Well, as a fellow human I early on I learned to IGNORE. I haven't been sought out as a target because I am not a target.

Yes I have wasted small fortunes when I let my emotions get the best of...

50 Merc Trunk Lock

My 1950 Merc trunk latches when given a hard slam shutting of the trunk lid. That hard slam became needed when I installed new rubber weatherstrip. Although the trunk locking key turns both...

Re: Thread - I screwed up

When I started this thread I was really interested learning only the thread size of the petcock. Yes, I did post a link which undermines the theory of my situation but I did as I was told, right or...

Re: Electric short somewhere

'Somewhere' is likely to be where the wires pass through a bulkhead. Pay attention to those places in the body where wires go from drivers area under dash, making their way on the drivers side from...

Re: Thread - I screwed up

After 6 rereads I simply don't understand what you are trying to say. Can you rephrase it all? I'm trying to understand what may be an important concept.

Read this pertinent article in Hot...

Re: Optima battery will only chug to 50%

Don, I also keep a 6v and a 12v motorcycle battery on the bench for checking things. They are quite cheap.

Re: Thread - I screwed up

Just read an article in current HOT ROD magazine on this topic. Apparently new cars have a temperature sensor at the inlet to the water pump and attempt to maintain 200-220°F for best coolant...

Hot water doesn't get cooled by the radiator UNLESS cool air flows through the radiator fins cools the water flowing through the radiator.

What we are discussing is the source of the air flowing...

Re: Optima battery will only chug to 50%

You need a Fluke Chugmeter.

I also have an optima which I charge every 12-24 months. I also have a great charger which handles that condition and goes into a 'repair' mode giving the battery...

Re: Remote oil filter. Help!

Ponder this -

If you drive less than around 1000-1500 miles a year...
And you change your oil annually...

Filtering your oil doesn't remove much carbon crap as
little oil flows through the...

Re: Generator or alternator ?

One reason for the alternator is when using an electric fan as these require some 40 or so amperes.

Stay with the generator after a 12v conversion if you have no need for extra juice.

That's...

Re: Anyone still putting custom paint into aerosol cans

My local NAPA had custom aerosol paint for $28 a couple years back. As it isn't a NAPA catalog item, I would have to make a phone call to determine current details. Their paint chips covered 1951...
