Re: Tulsa swap meet set up day

If you can hang around for a few days after the Tulsa meet, cruise down to Ft. Worth Texas next week for the massive Pate Swap Meet 4/25, 4/26, 4/27. Over 11,000 vendor spaces and lots of great...

Re: T Bakery Van

Most likely oil/kerosene lamps mounted behind the headlights.

I also suspect since it's a delivery vehicle the driver would enter the cab through a doorway on the passenger side.

Vacuum advance dist. for Model A

Is anyone making or modifying a distributor for Model A engines that incorporate vacuum advance? I know about the Rex-a-co centrifugal advance unit, but it's not vacuum controlled. Has anyone ever...

Re: Reusing cluster gears

Steve S,
Your recommendations are very enlightening and educational. I probably would not have thought of some of them without your pointing them out. Many thanks for your response.

Re: Reusing cluster gears

Joe & Bob - I tend to agree with your viewpoints. The bottom line is I'm not attempting to build a "perfect" transmission; my goal was to assemble a good, usable transmission from from used original...

Re: Reusing cluster gears

JayJay,
I'm down to my last good pair of original cluster gear shaft roller bearings. Pate swap meet is coming up in 4 weeks so I'll be keeping an eye out for them. And thanks for your reply!

Reusing cluster gears

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, but I'm curious if anyone has had any success with reusing transmission gears even if there is some signs of wear on the gear teeth but no evidence of...

Re: valve clearence , B motor

I don't know if it applies to "B" cams, but Les Andrews' book calls for .013" for intake valves and .015" for exhaust ford Model A cams. Maybe others here on the Barn will chime in.

Re: Model B engine in an A

Synchro,
You have presented an interesting argument worthy of further investigation. What distributor would you recommend? My brother just purchased 2 Model B engines hoping for a good one to...

Re: Model B engine in an A

They say that there are two types of Model B engines; ones that are already cracked and those that soon will be! :)

Re: Cowl Lights ??

They weren't just for aesthetic reasons. I can't remember the exact details, but I read somewhere state or federal law in those days mandated that cars have them in use when parking temporarily...

Re: Choke rod

Shoot the rubber grommet with silicone spray lube or WD40. If that doesn't help, replace it.

Looks like a barnyard attempt to add a heater. Gotta admire their resourcefulness by using what you have. "Poor folks have poor ways".

Re: Is this a normal wear pattern on oil pump idler cover plate and block mating surf

While you have it apart, replace the idler gear bushing and hone it to fit. Looks like it may be suffering from a sloppy idler bushing. When the idler bushing becomes worn, the engine will sound...
