Re: Mart's Update 2021 Episode 19 Part 1&2: The 32 Sedan body goes on!

Thanks Fellas.
David, all points noted. This body had fatigue all around that area (where the light brown primer is). I think there was a remnant of the rubber pad in that tub o bolts. I will look...

Mart's Update 2021 Episode 19 Part 1&2: The 32 Sedan body goes on!

Hello welcome to Mart's Garage.
Part 1:
In this episode I Get the 32 Sedan body out from where it was stored and down onto the chassis. It looked a bit sketchy and it was. It's amazing how putting...

Re: Head Bolt continually weeping

Just an observation but if I wanted to remove just one stud, providing it had been fitted relatively recently, I would use a variation on the double nut method.
Use a long connector type nut, and...

Re: Purpose of the spring around the OD of brake drum ?

It's a sound deadener to stop the drum "ringing".

I think.

Or maybe to assist in heat dissipation.

In other words I don't know but am prepared to have a wild guess!

Mart.

Re: 16/27 cluster

Agreed with above. the gearset is usable as a complete set but no interchangeability with anything else. It is virtually impossible to use that gearset for a closed drive conversion too.
If you want...

Re: 8BA crank in 59AB?

Hello Lars. I believe it will go in, but it depends if your 59A motor is set up for a rear rope seal. If not you need the aluminium seal holders for the rope seals. I was thinking of doing something...

Re: Adjust toe in question...

The tie rod should have a left hand thread one end and a right hand thread on the other. Then when you rotate it you alter the length. If your car has a non stock tie rod with rh threads both ends...

Re: Head Bolt continually weeping

Don't be tempted to go tighter. 60 lbs ft is already top whack for this application.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. I think I have enough to move forward with what I have here.
Thanks again.

32 Tudor sedan front seat mounts.

Gentlemen.

I'm looking at the two metal crossmembers where my front seats ought to mount. On the passenger side (USA Car) there are two fairly large holes with decent strengthener plates below,...

Re: Shift lever position / modification

It might be possible to bend it cold if you could position it suitably in a press. I suspect heating and bending will be easier.

Re: '35 backing plate bolts

If you can get a ring of steel like a big washer and put it over the heads of the bolts, and then refit the hub so it clamps the bolts tight against the axle casing it will hold the heads in place...

Re: starter, shorted out

marko39 has said to check the post. Further to this make sure the sheet metal band that covers the slots is positioned correctly and not shorting the post out. I had this problem recently and had to...

Re: 34 smoking starter switch from the newbie.

If you haven't really dug into it yet, first of all look at the connections. They may be loose or fuzzed up. I had to do this on my 41 pickup recently. The solenoid got hot and I burned my finger.

Re: 1934 Tudor needs a towbar - picture

It's a good question. I don't think there was a universally adopted tow hitch or ball size back then. Most things would have been home made and made to suit probably a home made trailer.
I would be...

Re: '41 4cyl P/U question

It is not 41 pickup, 6 or 8 cylinder. I don't think it is 41 pickup at all. It looks to be a bolt in on a frame that has boxed front rails. Note the upper flanges sticking out. As far as I can tell,...

Re: crash

Really sorry to hear this. I hope you are ok. That's the most important thing. When you say write off, do you mean it will be written off and they take it away, or will you be able to repair it (if...

Re: Flathead belt misalignment

Hello Harold. Are you using a 59Ab type pulley, or the French one? I looked at a pair of 59A pumps on a French block and there is a misalignment between the french pulley (actually a 4 groove pulley)...

Re: 34 crankshaft nut wrench size

I have some that are 1-1/8" but also have one at least that is closer to 1-3/8". It's a 5/8" thread so if a standard bolt has been used it could be 15/16".
