Re: 52 F1 LMC or Dennis Carpenter fenders Reviews

If your original fenders are workable, I would invest the time and money to make them work. I bought the new fenders when they first came out and they wouldn’t bolt up to the original inner fender or...

Re: N.E. Ga. Mechanic sought

I do not know any Flathead guys up around Lake Rabun. There is a place off 115 I think east of Cleveland that has a lot of old trucks parked out front but not sure if it’s a garage or not. What do...

Re: Dana 44 axle housing leak

In that photo, the pinion seal area is pointed to the ground. The leak is from a spot right above the webbing in the actual housing. I don’t think it’s a crack, just a casting flaw/pore that goes...

Dana 44 axle housing leak

I have had a small gear oil leak on a Dana 44 rear axle in our 52 F1. At first I thought it was the fill plugs, but upon inspection last night, I think itís coming from the housing. We had a pin hole...

Re: Carburator or Fuel Pump stock V8 Flathead

What kind of distributor are you running? You mention you changed it recently. Does it have vacuum advance? If so your vacuum advance canister could be bad or the advance springs need adjustment.

Spindle bushing installation tip

Installed NOS spindle bushings tonight on a set of spindles I am restoring. First one I got in about half way with a homemade tool of all-thread, washers, and a few nuts. Had to use my press on the...

Re: 1940 Steering Box Leak

On the 48-52 truck boxes, one of the plate bolts is open to the inside. Ours leaked there even with cornhead grease until I sealed the threads with permatex aviation.

Re: Sun distributor machine

I set my first distributor up last night on the sun machine. I took the vacuum pump out, disassembled it and cleaned it. Worked on repairing some wiring connections, and put the correct vacuum...

Re: 0Ba distributor condenser question

I know bud, all I had on the shelf was NOS. I have a couple of new ones on the way from NAPA, for inventory and swapping out the one I just put in.

Re: 0Ba distributor condenser question

Today we got around to doing a compression test. I did the test with engine cold, and most cylinders were around 95-100, but #1 and #5 were at 85. Digging a little deeper, we put a leak down tester...

Re: Sun distributor machine

Re: Removing Corn Head grease from steering

It does turn into a liquid of sorts with heat. Our box in our 52 F1 still leaks out of the bolt in the bottom that is open to the case. I need to pull that bolt and put some permatex aviation on it...

Re: Sun distributor machine

I found a digital manometer on Amazon that I think will work. I think teeing that into the vacuum pump will help with a more precise reading.
