Is it just camera angle? That distributor shaft appears to be badly off-center

Re: Exploded view of light switch

If you are experiencing battery drain, check the voltage cut-out on the generator.
When not running, the contacts in the cut-out should open, and disconnect the generator from the battery. If the...

Re: What revs at 60MPH

Re: Mysterious chips in the oil

As it appears to be deposited there from the oil pump, you are going to have to drain the oil (look for more chips) and clean out the pan and dip trays. Remove the pump and disassemble. As those...

Re: Distributor Part Fits

Look at the distributor casting where the fingers of the top plate rotationally slide. You might be surprised at how worn the casting is, compared to wear of the top plate. Over the years, the top...

Re: Model A Brake Lights

Re: Distributor Part Fits

Bob -
There are several things under the restorers control that can affect distributor performance.
1. As you indicated, the shaft to bushing tolerance
2. The cam itself - I have seen a lot of...

Re: engine misses

It is sometimes difficult to distinguish between ignition and carburetor problems. If you have a spare, it's quick to change out to see which has an effect on your problem. I had a similar issue...

Re: Stubborn Zenith

It may be that your engine is idling too fast for the air mixture adjustment to have any effect. If you can't reduce the idle speed, check the comp jet and GAV adjustments. Until you can reduce...

Re: Turning over but won’t start-slight electrical short

There's typically no such thing as a 'slight electrical short' - The 2 to 3 amp draw you are seeing sounds normal for your ignition coil. You are saying no spark when on the starter.. not sure...

Re: The A will not move

Attached is a picture of a riveted universal joint.

If the rivets come loose, the rotational movement will push the splined half back on the spline on the driveshaft. You will have all of the...

Re: Color of the engine

The paint is also available in quart cans. As it's not pressurized, you should be able to ship it internationally with no problem.

Re: Rivets or weld?

If you look at construction of buildings built during the 1930's, such as the Empire State Building, EVERYTHING is riveted. I'm sure there is a reason - strength, flexibility, worker capabilities,...

Re: speedo gear

If you let us know your wheel size and rear-end ratio we can tell you what your speedometer gear "should be". Then if it doesn't read correctly the problem would be in the speedo not the gearing. ...

Re: Squealing engine

Did you replace the seal around the front crank pulley? If it's a seal that's causing the squealing, that could be the culprit. That should be the only place where a seal actually is rubbing...

Re: Starter cranks, then spins

As 1931 Flamingo stated, the starter switch may be hanging and the humming you hear may be the starter motor running.
But if that were the case, then the bendix (if operating correctly) would be...

My chart shows a rolling circumference for a "typical" 16" tire to be 89.10", which would put you at 57.1 MPH at 2400 RPM with a 3.54 rear. With the variation in tires, you...
