Re: Brake Rod Anti Rattler

I have put the wire ones on before from the fixed clevis end.
I've also had the wire ones break - there's one broken on my Tourer waiting for a warm day to replace it...

Re: 3.27 ring and pinion, anyone using one ?

I run a 3.27 in my Coupe. Love it. Only a 27" tyre height though. Just done a 350 mile round trip at a steady 60-65mph. 30mph around town in top is no problem either.

To be honest the gearing is...

Re: 1931 Coupe Banger Project

On tarmac that'd be roughly my quarter mile terminal and still pulling hard. I've had a sat nav checked 85 over a mile when the engine was in my Fordor.

We've had a couple of stockish A's at...

Re: 1931 Coupe Banger Project

That's pretty - there's a reason I didn't put an engine photo up. It's a bit grubby under the hood...

Re: 1931 Coupe Banger Project

I'm running Armstrong's on my Coupe. More than happy with them.

I'd look at running a single carb and stock water pump and put the cash saved towards a taller final drive. I run a 3.54 in my...

Re: Ford script cast in block just above water intake?

I have a 'GS' B block in for machining at the moment. It's certainly heavier with a thicker deck. I'll pop it on the scales next time I see it...

Re: Valve spring pressure and a Stipe cam

Thanks Jim - don't want to be clattering valves into that shiny new head do I?

Valve spring pressure and a Stipe cam

A question on valve spring pressures for a new Stipe B340 cam.

History...

I have a reground cam in the diamond B in my Fordor, modern valves, new (10 years ago...) stock springs, with pressed...

Re: Model B Engine

I see a diamond...

I have a pressurised diamond A in the Tourer, and diamond B's in the Fodor and Coupe. I've had one B engine cracked from the bore right through the port into the valve chest -...

Re: Thomas head marked 8???

That's different from the Thomas head I have. Completely different chambers and the plugs are on the edge of the bores on mine. Not sure if I have any photos.

Re: MGB Shocks

The bodies are bigger on the the MGB ones and the bolt centres are the same as stock A shocks. I normally weld a replacement ball in from the wrong side and use Model B links. But do be careful...

Re: MGB Shocks

I run MGB ones with the stock arm on the rear, but they hang too low on the front and hit the trackrod. How much clearance under the shock do you have Chris?

Re: English 180A de luxe pheaton in "The Restorer"

You'll be wanting that G38T downdraft manifold won't you and a FoMoCo Zenith?

Re: English 180A de luxe pheaton in "The Restorer"

Basically a sliding opening sun roof. That typically leaked and rotted out. Thus my Fordor 'had' a sliding roof...

Re: English 180A de luxe pheaton in "The Restorer"

Well - the AF head atop a stock Diamond B has been a bit of fun. Pulled a 3.27 through the Cotswolds no problem. Steady 60 and more cruising along in comfort.

Pity the head gasket went yesterday...

Re: Recovering from Blown Head Gasket?

The gasket failed under my Thomas head a few weeks ago. Turns out the 'hardened' washers I'd bought were in fact made of some kind of cheese I reckon. The new nuts I'd used were little better....

Re: Evaluate my engine plans...

Here's my carb calculator for you. I run a single 97 on the tourer - good for 77hp.
