In the days after 1948 drums were marked max dia. The old ford drums had lot of meat on them. I think back then people would drive till the shoes were medal to medal.

Looks like you are still works on this car. First off the box and arm you have from swap meet are NO GOOD. E bay now have whole box and shaft column.

When I installed a should with electric fan ,I did notice I would run hotter at high speed.
What did was cut the bottom of should off. Those flops are blocking air.

These fingers are made from a Extrusion like sliced bread
If you welded a nut 3/8 by 3/8 to finger and looked at it from side view.
If they made a new Extrusion with different profile this could...

The problem you have can't be fixed.
When you remove the trans measure from flat of bell housing to tip of finger.
With the right old style you will find out the finger with adj screws are 1/4'...

The newer style pressure plates are showing up with that problem.
The new ones have fingers like sliced bread all the same.
You want a 10" like Ford Made. USA....

If you have new shoes there are some shoes that are made wrong.
The bottom hole is off location.
If you put shoes in drum make sure the lining hits all drum, chamfer ends.

That 1.5 resister should be ok if it runs with 2 amps with volt meter about 3 volts ok.
If you have a good spark out of coil, pull cap wire to grd should snapping sound 1/2"

When bleeding the brakes best get the MC higher then WC jack up front or back as needed.
When I do mine I just crack the bleeder just enough to leak out and pump 10 times and when you see puddle on...

When testing a coil with OHMS reading that to me is not a good way but quick way. I would check under power when running. You know when leaving the key on some times it burns the coil up.

Go buy a Chevy 1968 coil and resister and condenser and you will be on the road.
Save the muli meter for checking battery's.

One thing people do to bleed is to pinch the rubber hoses

If you remove the small wire to selinodse, then short to batt and see if it stops .
If it stops work back to wire to ign switch check for shorted wire.

There are 2 on the epay 50 merc you get both the bell and plate.
They are used when going to c4 auto trans.
Co. Flato matic make bell to go c4.
They are making them out of alum could buy one from...

You need to show the pan you are using.
I have a 1953 8rt and the bell is case iron and starter blots to it, only a small tin cover on bottom. Up to 52 looks like what you need.

I have the stepped pan and I think my dip stick is for a 1953.
I think if you were to fill with 5 quarts the 8BA would read 1/4" from bottom.

I was quires about the 8rt and 8ba.
The 8ba is shorter and the 8rt dip stick is 17" long.
I think I just added 5 quart and didn't check it , just now checked was down about 1 quart.

I did that swap and my engine came from a 1953 f100,try to get pressure plate with the fingers with adjusting screws at end of fingers. The 8ba the holes are drilled thur and the 59a are not.

My guess you are talking about the 4 bolts in back of trans. They hold the trans and rearend together. Special bolts would be found at trans builder
