Re: Model A insurance coverage

I would think so. A call is cheap and fast to your insurer. Have your insurance policy at hand. Most of us have a deductible on the parts/repairs, so you would have to figure out first how bad the...

Re: What type of nails do I use to attach the body to the wood

They are the small round head nails, .165" diameter head and 11/16ths" long. I believe any of the parts catalogs have them in boxes of 100.

Re: convert to LED headlights

I'm running the original generator with the Voltage regulator I bought from the company that made them, "Fun Projects, Inc." years ago.Works very well, but still had a serious amperage drain on a...

Re: convert to LED headlights

My headlamps are LogoLites. All other came from a different vendor. I've rewired and ran separate ground years ago when I was refreshing this old truck. Also I see where my tail lamps flicker a bit...

Re: convert to LED headlights

I switched over to all LED's in the A, I do like the very low amp draw now at night. I hear that the Logo Lights are actually 8-12 volts, so at low RPM's or a low setting on 3rd brush, the lights...

Re: Lionel toy trains .

The Train Collectors Association, (TCA), is another well respected organization John. It does cover all makes, but Lionel is a large part I've seen. I collect pre-war Lionel O gauge and 1920's Ives...

Re: Radiator leaking

My option would be to pull core out and repair it, or have it repaired by a radiator shop. I suggest not pouring in any stop leak just yet. Without seeing it myself, sounds like an easy fix where the...

Re: Ford Identification Plates

Go to "Gaslight" ford parts. The part # for the owner's plate you're looking for is a-18650-OP. It's $7.95.

Re: Car Stopped Running

You may want to do this; Make a small 90 degree angle bracket with 3 holes; one for the toggle switch and two for the existing terminal box mounting screws that hold the bracket. Install the switch...

Re: Car Stopped Running

Before you dig too deep, check your battery. This happened to me at a gas station 3 years ago. My cheapo Exide battery decided to short out between two of the cells at that moment, giving me the...

Re: Painting whitewalls black

Just another thought, how about the fairly new "Flex Seal" paint in a small can. It's black and dries like rubber.

Re: Vapor Lock

I agree with Brent, splash pans are a must, They aid in venting out hot air under the hood, otherwise, the hot air just swirls around with fan air and undercarriage air fighting each other while...

Re: Garage heat

My cars are locked up in a well insulated garage all Winter, with southern facing windows in 3 doors and a black roof. It has a cement floor. No heat at all. Odd, but there is a half gallon jug of...

Re: “Do not use a file” to dress down breaker points

I use a little tool called a "Flex-stone" file. It's flat, about 4" long, very fine abrasive, good for cleaning up good but tarnished (or light burnt) points. Won't do much for any really bad pitted...

Re: Carb cleaner

I've successfully used Berryman Chem-Dip, a 96 Oz. "paint bucket" size can with a dip tray. Won't hurt brass or aluminum , pot metal. really cleans well in a few hours or even overnight. It'll burn...

Re: Spare Wheel and Tire Lock

Something looks awfully funny with the inside of the key slot on your spare tire lock. Have you just tried turning it off? Try putting a type of pin in the slot and see what happens. Perhaps the...

Re: Windshield rattle/ vibration

That rattle is the hinge rod that the top curl of the windshield frame swings on. It's worn and it is metal-to-metal there. Tightening the header screws isn't the answer. Do this; open the windshield...

Re: Foaming Coolant

I had the same problem until I drained the Prestone and switched to Sierra antifreeze, 50/50 mix. No more foaming. Costs a tad more but it works.

Re: Worried!

I don't drain out the cars anymore for years now. I feel that can lead to rusting the insides of the block. Who knows for sure? I just use half water-half Sierra antifreeze.

Re: This A is snowed in

I hear you Keith. My sister-in-law living in Beaufort, South Carolina opened the front of her house to reach for the morning paper and there was a 4 foot alligator curled up on the welcome mat on top...

Re: A's in movies?????

The movie "Grown-ups" with Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, etc.. was filmed in part right near me here in Essex County. A good friend of mine owned the old fire engine in a scene, and told...
