Re: B block hole repair

Drill and tap the hole for an SAE fine thread size. Install a brass or bronze bolt wet with JB Weld and grind it flush with the deck. The bolt needs to have a coefficient of expansion higher than the...

Re: Ammeter - Needle

The needle is part of a D'Arsonval Movement which reacts to the magnetic field around the horseshoe shaped bar when current flows through the bar. The movement is very sensitive, so any change in...

Differfential Gear Ratio - Determining

Since I published this chart on a few web sites, several Model A'ers have asked, "What gear ratio does my car have." Another question often asked is, "How do I determine what the gear ratio is in my...

Re: Dr window handle

Do you know that the interior door handles in the Victoria are the same as in the Convertible Sedan, except the plating is different. The Victoria handles are plated with nickle, and Convertible...

Re: tire pressure

I go off of the reservation and run with 28-30 psig. My 190A rides and handles nicely with this tire pressure. As for tire wear, I see nothing unusual.

Re: Door checks

The door check stops in my 190A look those in my 1931 45B Coupe. I have not overlaid them, so I cannot say they are identical. They also look like Bratton's Part Number 32840. I suspect that the...

Re: help with Model A market values

In my opinion, the high cost of a restoration cannot be gotten back in a sale price unless the car has a spectacular heritage / rareness. So restoring a Model "A" needs to be an act of enthusiasm and...

I have been using Universal tires since the 1980s and have accumulated 1000s of miles with them. Tread life is about 25,000 - 30,000 miles. Universal tires have an authentic looking tread pattern. My...

Victoria Changeover To Steel-Back

My conjecture is built upon observation of a list of 598 known surviving Victorias. My best guess on the basis of the list is that, the changeover to the Steel-back at Murray was between body...

The 190A Victoria Coupe is the first Model "A" to have a visor-less slant windshield, 1931 front fenders with the integral nose piece of the running board apron, & the 1931 radiator shell. Owners...

Hi Steve. My conjecture is built upon observation of the list of 598 survivors, and I realize that it differs from your research that is based on company documents. My best guess on the basis of...

Re: Magnetic transmission oil drain plug?

I believe that babbitt is non-magnetic. However, cotter pins fatigue and wind up in the pan. What else is magnetic that would stick to a magnetic drain plug?

Re: Steering Lubricant Question

Liquid lubricant will leak out of the sector housing. Since the 1960's I have been using 90% by volume of wheel bearing grease and 10% by volume of SAE 140 gear oil. No leakage! The grease goes in...

Re: Victoria Body Number 190A 21292

The basis of my dating theory is the record of survivors I maintain for the International Victoria Association. There are 595 surviving Victorias in that record, and the changeover from Leather-back...
