As for type of steel I would use 1020 cold rolled steel not hot rolled because cold rolled has the slag removed and is easier to weld.

If you 1029 steel is cold rolled you could also use it....

In 1967 I flat towed my 40 Ford coupe 300 miles behind my 57 Pontiac from Poughkeepsie, NY to Wellfleet, MA. Used a tow bar bolted to the 40 frame rails on the front. Did not disconnect the drive...

The only mark on the dip stick is a the very tiny letter "M" stamped on the stick about 1 inch above the full mark.

Not trying to reopen a question but, I thought it would be worth posting that my 8BA engine with a 1950 Mercury rear sump oil pan and oil filter holds 6 quarts of oil at the full mark on the dip...

I found that the Rock Auto Website gives the length of the fan belts. I think the truck belts were 5/8" wide.
Plug in the numbers for your vehicle and see what you can find....

To be frank, I doubt if you will get super duper performance from any vacuum controlled wipers. The technology of the time just didn't measure up to the task.

I measured my 40 rear end car width from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface and got 59 1/2 in.

Don't know tube length.
