Re: Title change

Tennessee issued me a vin on a decal. I would have preferred something a lot more permanent, but beggars cant be choosers.

Fuel/Natchez Trace

I am the preliminary stages of planning a Natchez Trace trip. For those of you who have done it, was fuel an issue? Did you carry a Jerrycan. If so, where is the safest place to carry one. I would...

Re: Modern post manufacture shock absorbers

I have that setup and hate it. I should be wearing kidney belts driving the thing. I keep thinking I will get used to them, but have not yet. Changing them is on the list but other things are first.

Re: What strange comments or questions have you heard about your Model A

While sitting still in gridlocked rush hour traffic, I had this lady roll down her window and angrily tell me I shouldn't be driving in rush hour traffic. Obviously I was causing all kinds of delays....

Re: New Model A Owner

Pet evaporated milk. Google it. Worked for me. No, I wasn't going to fix my current radiator properly because it is a two row and why waste the money on a radiator that will never cope with summer...

Re: Shipping

I used to work for the predominant overnight shipper who shall remain nameless. I would never ship any freight through them. I have seen way to many crates come crashing down from 7 feet above and...

Re: New video on How to Do a Lube Job on a Model A Ford

Have I been lubing the wrong side of my water pump all this time? I though it was the fitting with the cap on it.

Re: 2018 Miles

I spent a little over two months with the engine apart. Other than that I drive year round four or five days a week. Probably 5 thousand miles this year.

Re: Panel Board

If I am remembering correctly, the top was not a straight cut. The ones removed were not factory so I cannot attest to the accuracy, but they had a curve and were taller at the side than the back....

Re: Spare Tire fender Well

Read up on the modern shocks. Make sure to get the ones with the best reviews. I cheaped out and it rides like a mule wagon.

Re: Modify 1930 tudor sedan

I bet you would find someone eager to trade a regular fender for yours. Finding someone local is a different story.

Re: Model A Timing Advance System

Can someone give some more specifics on the Honda distributor? What years and makes was it on and how do you retrofit.

Re: How to replace the intake manifold

I'm on my fourth exhaust gasket set, second manifold set. I get the copper gaskets. This is the first time I have used the gland rings and they have made a big difference on my setup.

Re: Drinking Problem

Mine ran absolutely great and the smoke was not bad at all but it did what yours is doing. Sounded good, plenty of pep but oil was gone. Opened it up and it was WORN out. New rings and valves/guides...

Re: Just in case I have a laeking head gasket

Throw a can of evaporated milk in with your water. I does no harm and when the sugars meet with the air they are cooked to form a seal. Not a permanent fix, but it got me through several months until...

Re: 250 Days of A - Daily Driver

I drive mine about 60% of the time. The rain is what keeps it in most of the times. Other than that it gets out more than my regular car.

Re: Rebuilding Fuel Valve Question

I have this same problem and was told by several that the reproductions are a crap shoot as to if you get a working one or not. If it does leak, you will never be able to get it to stop. I have my...

Re: Replacing A connecting rod in place

I think the point was he is looking for a bandaid to get running and if you remove the piston through the top then yes, a ridge reamer is in order. something he is trying to avoid.

Re: Replacing A connecting rod in place

I found really good information on rod adjustment on the model T sites. I shaved rod caps (no shims left) when the engine was in the car and eliminated all of the play apart from #2 where the crank...

Re: How much oil consumption is acceptable?

Before my rebuild I was using a quart every 75 miles. It would run like a top and go all day long as long as you kept it full of oil. Smoked but not as bad as you would think. I found most of the...
