As Brent said, Make sure the surface is flat! I like to take a skim cut, with a flycutter on a Bridgeport. Granted, not everyone has a Bridgeport lying around, So it can be done with a file also....

Those parts in the pictures are bad! The bearings anyway. Look at the tapered hole and see if it is beaten, or worn out. If it is the drum will have to be replaced.
