Re: Ways to Start With Obstructed Hand Crank

Wow Bob! That is a BIG Bax. It appears you could just drill a hole in the back for the crank, remove all you stuff and crank the engine with the crank INSIDE the box!

Re: Air Filter

I use the K&N Air Filter #5297. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E7DMKE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Guess I'm lucky as my filter does not "become saturated with fuel".

Re: F 150 OD trans

Someone mentioned Dave Delmue's kit cost $3800? Can I assume this includes the trans? If so this doesn't sound too bad considering if you went with a Mitchell and wanted a syncro trans with an O/D...

Re: Cotter pins

Well for me, my car is not perfect nor am I worried about the finish of the cotter pins. I was asking a question so I could answer a question posed to me. And in the process I learned something....

Re: What revs at 60MPH

According to Lucas Classic Tires a 28/29 tire (4.40/4.50-21) is a " taller than a 30/31 tire (4.75/5.00-19). I don't think you would see much impact.

Re: What revs at 60MPH

What rear end ratio are you running? With stock gearing (3.78's), at 67 your engine would be spinning ~3000 RPM (on paper). More in real life.

That is similar to what I have heard... At 50 MPH...

Re: What revs at 60MPH

On paper it calc out to ~2600 RPM at 60 MPH with the stock 3.78 rear gear and 4.75/5.00 x 19 tires.

I don't feel comfortable driving that fast in a Model A anyway. 45-50 is where I (and my Town...

Cotter pins

A question was posed to me and I have no idea what the answer might be.

Did Ford use galvanized cotter pins back when or did he save money and use carbon steel cotter pins?

Thanks.

Re: Sagging Front Spring.

I have a hydraulic press that I used to remove and install the bushings in my spring perches (no doubt overkill). You could probably press them in with a large vice or 'C' clamp. The spring comes...

Re: Champion 3xs or other plugs?

I'm sorry but doesn't the article state that "W16Y (For Model A engines it ought to be nearer to W14).

The article also states "Concerning the W16Y, according to Champion, the W16Y, being a...

Re: Model "A" Era Accessories

Are you asking for original accessories or later accessories. The only reason I ask is some of the accessories I have would have been added later than the "Model A Era" as are some that are posted by...

Re: Sagging Front Spring.

alexiskai, Yes looking at spring and shackles it clears the axle OK but I can see where the spring came into contact with the spring perch. At rest, the shackles are at ~70, just short of being...

Re: Logolites opinions

Can I assume since the cannot be focused they tend to blind oncoming traffic?

I'm just curious, I run Ron Francis Brite Bulbs 175/75 cp, 12v only. They are shaped likeoriginal and can be focused.

Sagging Front Spring.

My front spring bottoms out when I go over a bump. I think my spring is getting weak and sagging (or maybe I broke a leaf).

In Les Andrew's 'Red Book' it states "measure the front end height from...

1929, I wasn't referring to your comments... I was referring to some of the comments by others on various threads started by M2M.

Re: Suspicious Threads?

M2M, I enjoy your pictures. Not so much the snarky responses from some of the other members.

Some of the pictures take a moment to open, be patient. No need to use a link.

There was a thread a while back on this car. Isn't it used at the University of Mississippi football games? I couldn't find it in a search.

Re: Rear main leak to clutch

When my rear main was leaking the flywheel seemed to 'fling' the oil out where it would collect on the inside of the bell housing then run out the bottom. never got to the clutch.

Re: No air filter . . .

Snyder's and maybe others (I have not checked) sell new Zenith ! carbs that are air balanced. The one on my car works great. In fact the engine runs a little on the lean side with a K&N filter.
