Unfortunately, the stock sets are prone to cracking and too large in diameter to easily install on the rabbit ear style distributor. I can't imagine that the crab style is much better.

The configuration is different for 46-48 compared to the 40.

The fuel line doesn't extend into the tank through the fitting, if I understand the question.

Since it already doesn't work, there isn't much risk in opening it up. You'll want to use a better lubricant after cleaning the innards.

It is possible to cobble sort of a solution with mismatched OE and repop pieces. It is not possible to get full functionality unless the pieces are designed for each other.

The battery ground cable is attached to a firewall ground stud on the PS (non-Austrailian versions) close to the battery box.

The frame should have the serial number stamped on the top of the PS frame rail near the motor mount. Best to use a scotch-brite pad when searching so as to preserve the stamped characters.
