I use weight in the back of the vehicle and a short piece of 2X4 between the spring and axle housing. Simple and inexpensive.

For some unbenownst reason a previous owned welded the dipper tray to the oil pan in my '31 CCPU. Maybe it too was loose and rattling around?

I would try: put the nut(s) back on loose, install the cotter pins, go for a drive, then try removing the pins. May or may not work, but it's worth a try.

Beg, borrow or otherwise obtain a megger (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megohmmeter) and check between the terminals of the suspect body.

That hub can still be used by removing the existing studs and drilling a new set of holes for new studs.

Would sticking a rare earth magnet on the outside bottom of the tank catch and hold rust particles? I have a bunch that I "rescued" from old hard drives.

They're not all 1-3/8", the one on my '31 CCPU is 1-1/4" and I've heard of 1-5/16" ones.

Unless the drip oiler is shut off when the car is parked for extended periods, like overnight or longer, it's going to put too much oil into the distributor.

the 1M1183A should work fine, the A says there is a difference but is not enough to worry about.

From Digi-Key tech expert: The only real differences I see is that the 1183A has a higher current...
