Re: Toe-End Gauge

A couple years ago I posted a thread about a simple toe-in gauge that I made from PVC. It might help here. In the search function above put in "Simple to make and use Toe-In gauge" It should come...

Re: lite switch assembly question

It could be that the "ears" on the spider aren't properly engaged into the light switch ring inside the light switch housing.

Re: lite switch assembly question

Bob C, What is this part? (arrow in picture) I don't have it in my car. I looked in Mac's catalog and see it there as part #B3569. Is it used in the 2 tooth box only?

Re: lite switch assembly question

Denis, take a look at this picture. It should answer your question. I don't know that you mean by "steel upper housing and top bakelite". I presume you are talking about a 7 tooth box.

See my...

Re: 7 Tooth Steering Box leak

Well, I finally won this round. I took the bearing and flange assembly (#29) out and disassembled the flange from the rest of it; quite easily I might add since it was so loose. I cleaned it well and...

Re: Voltage regulation with a Zener diode

I figured it wouldn't be as easy as it looked in that diagram. From what pictures I saw of Zener diodes I didn't think they could handle the amperage draw of an automobile. Mention of the motorcycles...

Voltage regulation with a Zener diode

Let me preface this thread by slaying that I know only enough about electronics to be dangerous. I’m looking for an electrical engineer’s guidance.

I seem to have a lot of directional and...

Re: 7 Tooth Steering Box leak

Here's an addendum to the leak problem. To verify that it was in fact the bolts leaking, which I found hard to believe due to the amount leaking, I did a little more investigating. I thoroughly...

Re: 7 Tooth Steering Box leak

I used the ones that were listed as "sector shaft bushings". Here's a valuable tip; the oil grooves in the bushings aren't cut all the way to one end, but they do go all the way to the other end. If...

Re: 7 Tooth Steering Box leak

A follow up; I think I have found and easy and EFFECTIVE fix for the leak problem. My steering box assembly won't take the tube style nut discussed above so I had to get creative. All I did was put...

Re: 7 Tooth Steering Box leak

Thanks to all (except 6-pack) that responded. Some good input here. I'll look into the fit of the tube.

7 Tooth Steering Box leak

Has anyone figured out how to stop a 7 Tooth steering box leak? I rebuilt my box and can't stop the oil leak. It comes out quickly. One thing I found is that mine does not have the part called...

Well, that was the right decision. I had the passenger side front fender off in a little over an hour. The rest tomorrow.

WHN and Old Ugly, your posts are spot-on!! Old Ugly, you could be talking about my car. I've decided to follow the route you guys suggest. I'm going to leave the aprons on as they are not bad at all....

Re: Fender removal

Thanks to all who responded. EXCELLENT input!

It sounds like getting the front fenders off, and particularly back on, can be quite a chore. I'm not a "purist". This is a great driver, not a...

Fender removal

I want to remove my fenders and kick panels below the doors for repaint. Can someone please give me a little guidance on how to go about it? It's a 1929 Tudor.

Re: Starting Troubles

We've probably all used this "fix" at one time or another. Here's an odd twist to it. I've had it happen three times in the last three weeks.

My car usually starts right up with no hesitation...

My horn works perfectly...

Re: Coil or condenser over heat

I used to have this problem with my first "A". Like most others, it turned out to be the condenser. I carry a gallon of water with me in case of an over-heat, which I never have, but I found that if...

Re: Float valve leaking

Is it possible that the housing is cracked where the valve screws in? I remember fighting with this leaking issue on my first "A" but I can't remember what finally was the fix.

Re: Does Your A Start Right UP?

That's exactly what I do as well. Works nearly every time. Once it's warm, no choke. It will flood easily.

Talking Re: Simple to make and use Toe-In gauge

Yblockhead, you are correct. I misspoke. The car does need to roll forward after you install the gauge. My old mind reverses things occasionally. As I said, you have to think about what you are...
