Could you weld it with the pan still installed, or do you have to remove the pan from the engine? I am thinking removed due to the high heat or open flame of welding

The spot welded bolts would make perfect sense. I wonder if somebody sells that ring with the bolts attached? Even if they did I don't think i could get it into the pan without removing it which is...

Good to know about the gaskets. I would like to get a complete set, especially if I am going to clean the underside of the intake as I have read would be a smart idea

It is more the safety of the whole thing, not getting good at it aspect. I am more worried about what order to shut valves off and turn on stuff, leaks, and stupid mistakes

The years are actually 49-51. I need the pan, pump and pick up for a Mercury car, not truck. It needs to be Mercury with part numbers 8CM6675C or 8CM6675D
