Wink Re: pressurized radiator work around

Being no expert too.......read my 1st post and why I opted for the "pressurized" system. I really wasn't looking for the higher boiling point in my case. I might end up with a zero lb cap in the end,...

Re: pressurized radiator work around

Hi Dave.....very helpful post. Your car is a twin of mine in paint and body style. I'm going to try the pressurized cap first. I flushed the engine block quite a few times with a pressure washer...

Re: pressurized radiator work around

I'm not using the quail cap for pressure, just for looks. The inlet is under the hood off to the side on a Brassworks closed system radiator. Thus my using a zero PSI cap, so basically its a closed...

pressurized radiator work around

I am going with a pressurized radiator in the A for a reason that might not make a lot of sense. After having boil overs and hot antifreeze in my face on a few occasions, I got a Brassworks...

Re: Radiator decision?

On the pressurized radiator. I just got my pressurized Brassworks radiator with the overflow tank. One poster mentioned the head gasket and pressure. The cap is a 4 lb cap. Is this a concern? I...

1928 phaeton windshield supports

My 28 windshield does not have any supports to keep it propped open nor does it look like it ever did and there are no apparent holes in the frame where it might have had some. It does swing out but...

Re: Photos of "the other love"

[QUOTE=Licensed to kill;1695357]You can do like some gun collectors I know do. Their wife doesn't know one gun from another but she CAN count. Buy a couple crap bikes for a couple hundred bucks each...

Talking Re: Photos of "the other love"

Beautiful bikes! I had a 1969 Ducati 350 and a 1969 BSA Lightning. Wish I still had them. Hey.....I DO have room in the garage for some......but the wife can't find out.......

Photos of "the other love"

I'm always curious what other cars folks here have besides their beloved Model A. After many years and cars and trucks, I sold them all off and told the wife, I'm done. She just said "Sure......I'll...

Re: Waterpump lube?

Very good discussion....boiling down to marine grease of some sorts and less is more. If one doesn't drive their A much.........plugging a radiator with grease should be a non issue. One thing is for...

Re: Waterpump lube?

Too late......I have a new standard pump. I have been told that you can loosen the large brass packing nut when lubing to keep the grease from getting into the coolant.....as it will push out the...

Re: Waterpump lube?

So, basically, there IS no such thing as grease that melts at say 170 to 190 degrees enough to be harmless to radiators. That's seems to be the consensus so far.

Re: Waterpump lube?

So...what IS this mystery "melting" grease for water pumps?? I understand that ANY over zealous greasing of the rear fitting will in fact end up in the cooling system and potentially plugging a good...

Re: Waterpump lube?

Yes...I get that part. I had copious amounts of grease in the old radiator I am replacing. I'm wondering what "lube" in coolant additives and antifreeze do to a water pump that is basically lubed...

Waterpump lube?

I'm always seeing talk about "waterpump lube" from an additive or anti-freeze. Just what is it "lubing"? There are two grease fittings on each end of the pump for that, I assumed, other than the...

Re: Model A Fords on American Pickers.

You buy a car to fit your expectations. Obviously Mike thinks Model A's do not fit his expectations, so you don't buy one. It's that simple really. And any conversion makes the stock ones that much...

Re: Bubbles above gas tank

With the added info from the previous owner, about it looking that way for over 8 years without any progression, I'm leaning toward that same prognosis too Tom.
