Re: Coil failure ?

X2. If I had the condenser and coil biz for Model A owners who changed those parts when they were good, I'd be a rich man. :D

Re: Victorias

Chris gives a great description :)

I'd just add that a Victoria has an adjustable (fore and aft) driver's seat. This feature was also standard on the Deluxe 1931 Tudor, but very few of those were...

Re: Radiator overflow

I had the same experience. I was also told by most that the problem was a bad head gasket or cracked block.

One solution offered, however, was that the water pump was moving too much water. I...

Re: Brake energizer kit questions

I would disagree with you painting EVERYONE with the same brush unless those 2-3 experiences during the week are close to 100% of your contacts during the week. If not, it is not correct to use...

I disagree with your disagree :)

I was a young, broke 15 year old in 1962 with no mechanical skills when I got my first Model A. A 30 coupe that was in pieces. I read everything I could get my...

Re: 1930 model A starter 12V conversion

The starter doesn't have to be converted to 12V. A 6V starter will work fine on 12V.

Re: Service Truck

I'm not a bidder and this is the first time I've seen this truck, but I think you are overstating the defects.

Wiper motor probably does need a rebuild...or at least a little lube on the seals.

Re: Brake feel . . .

If a car won't go it's inconvenient. If it won't stop, it's deadly.

Re: Found center and timed engine still cranking but no spark

#1 piston will come to top dead center twice in a cycle. You may have timed it at the start of the intake stroke and not when the plug should be firing.

Finding TDC with the "screwdriver in the...

Re: Cause of hot ignition coil?

Re: Cause of hot ignition coil?

Decrease in point gap = an increase in coil saturation time. I can see that.

I can't see how changing the timing one way or another changes the coil saturation time, however.
