Re: Window removal tips?

Be sure to measure and locate the channel and window to their original relation, if you are off the glass will bind on the up or down extremes.

Re: Must replace timing gear

The marked crank gear tooth can be hard to see behind the slinger but it is the tooth that lines up with the right side of the keyway when looking from the front.

Re: Choke to start all the time?

Go back to your previous post and research what the GAV and choke are - they are not the same animals even though they share the same knob. If you are familiar with small aircraft engines compare...

Re: GAV closed, car dies

Hope, you have no problem. GAV operation appears normal - just takes a little try and check to get it right and then leave it alone. At least my experience.

Re: What revs at 60MPH

It is my opinion (for what ever it's worth) that a model A with brakes in proper working condition is limited in stopping power by the small tire foot print rather than the brakes at any speed, ...

Re: 1931 Victoria leather Back Top Installation

I found that the real key to getting the top wrinkle free is to concentrate on getting the top in the groove where horizontal changes to vertical. Tack the perimeter loosely all the way around...

Re: No comment

Any one can restore or have an original restored, but it takes talent to make an original out of an original. Great job and well done - whom ever did it.

Re: Light switch

I am talking about the 3 contact ring in the upper housing, I must have something broke or missing as I believe this is supposed to remain in the upper housing.

Re: Smoke/oil blowing out oil fill tube

Check that the oil is not over filled, not all dip sticks are the same. It is safe to run at a known 3 1/2 qts. for this check.

Light switch

Is there a spring between the rotating contacts and the spider? I found a cupped washer between the two that looks like a spring may sit there and see no other purpose for the cupped washer.

Re: Ven Plate

If you have the body off and the Vin number exposed on the frame and it is the same as the engine number get a letter from a Vin inspector stating this.
The letter can be amended for future VIN...

Re: Locating dimple on timing gear

This is not incorrect. The backup distributor if set up properly can run forever as though it were new. Human hands are the only thing that can change a mechanical junction (which timing is) whether...

Re: Gas Aspiration Problem?

Timed properly with the timing pin seating it can not be 180 out. The shafts from the cam gear are all connected off center. Remember cam to crank gear ratio is 2 to 1 - so no way to be off 180, ...
