Re: Reusing head bolts.

I agree with this logic for everything but head bolts or studs. Check them out and make sure they are good. If there is any doubt what so ever, toss them.

Breaking one off in the block can be...

Just measured Tardel's bronze bushing and it came to 1.577" on the nose.

Re: 32-34 4 cylinder motor.

Charlie Yapp's Secrets of Speed is a great place to start.

Take some time to look at the links attached. It's not the easiest site to navigate, but there is a lot of info there or linked to it. ...

Re: Question re stuck rings on a removed piston.

Cool. I really enjoy watching your videos and the learning from you as you learn the hard way. LOL!

Curious as to thoughts to why the rings are so stuck on these pistons. What caused that?

Re: Question re stuck rings on a removed piston.

Mart:

I appreciate all the effort and time you are putting into this project. I'm just left wondering if it was this bad, don't you think it will need a clean up bore making the pistons and...

https://www.verntardel.com/store/p346/Pilot_Bushing.html

No need to go that far. Vern Tardel sells the bronze pilot bushing from those French flatheads for $8.00.

Re: Hard time removing steering wheel on 32

I’ve drilled and threaded two holes in the metal hub of the wheel to allow a “modern” style wheel puller to be used. Worked great.

Re: Bring back auto mechanics class

Wow! That's a great run! I'm approaching my 20th year in education and I think I'll be getting out at 25. I'll have 25 years in & be 55 years old, magic numbers for retirement in NJ.

Re: 32 vs 33-34 Pedal Differences???

Interesting. I never saw them that late. As guess with all things Ford, anything is possible. LOL!

Looking at that clear pict., I am convinced that the beam type arms are cast. Look at the...

Re: 32 vs 33-34 Pedal Differences???

I'm also thinking that Ford must have had some issues with these pedals for, after '34, I don't think (now, I could be wrong) they used cast pedal arms again and went back to forged arms.

Re: What year and what is it worth?

I agree. $5K on the high end. If the motor is toast, it's going to be $3-5K just on a quality rebuild. Since it doesn't run, I'd have to assume the worst.

Does she have a the title? Is a...

Re: 32 vs 33-34 Pedal Differences???

Yes, if I wasn't clear, I apologize. I was strictly talking about the I beam type of pedals and not the oval ones; which we all agree are forged.

Re: 32 vs 33-34 Pedal Differances???

That is my thought. I am not saying they all were, but the ones I had, I believed to be cast.

Re: 32 vs 33-34 Pedal Differances???

David:

Thanks for the clarity. I never looked at the last 4 digits past the #40. I just measured them. Why I know all this is for I used '34 pedals in a /32 pedal box on my recent AV8 build. ...
