Re: Engine Noise - Help-Opinions?

Funny you mention that- in September I remember driving my wife to Moravia on around Sept 19 and saw a bunch of cars heading from Homer to a show. I was also aware of the Jordan car show that...

Re: Engine Noise - Help-Opinions?

BTW - I do use MMO in my gas religiously.

Changed the oil and replaced with 20W50 4qt with STP. This time started, ran almost 20 min with only a hint once in a while of the noise. Will...

Re: Engine Noise - Help-Opinions?

I will try this next in the sequence of tests - when Mrs. G isn't yelling at me for spending too much time with the Model A mistress.

Re: Engine Noise - Help-Opinions?

I was also going to try this next. Remove the belt, and when warming up seeing if it does the same noises.

Re: Engine Noise - Help-Opinions?

It was low, but I don't believe out. I make it a habit to check before I venture out. Also, I've ordered a proper cap as yes, I have been losing oil.

Engine Noise - Help-Opinions?

Today I was taking a nice drive when at a stop sign, the engine was clacking louder than usual. By the time I got home it was very noticeable. Looking to the experts for advice. Took a video of...

Re: Changing coolant for the winter

I changed mine out last week. Had distilled with VP Cool down for the summer. Wanted to change out to before the real deep freezes came to Upstate NY.

Re: Starter Blues

Good news - new bendix arrived and installed. The washers with metal tabs were missing on the old - likely a contributor to potentially unthreading and falling into the abyss. I hand turned the...

Re: Starter Blues

Actually - I went a couple routes. I ordered A-11350-USA from Snyders as well as the bolt and the key - better to have more parts than missing some. Will let the crew know where I fall.

Starter Blues

Although this is trimming the rapidly closing window of enjoyment for the season, I though I'd better tackle it. Last week I heard a weird ping when I started my 1930, and noticed a weird, weaker...

Re: New owner 1931 A

Great looking car, and outstanding you've traveled so far in so little time. I bought mine a year ago, and although I had to do some items to straighten it out, enjoy it every dry day (was a little...

Re: Press in Grease Fittings - Foot Petal

FYI - finished last night. The 1/4 socket and gentle tap of hammer was the ticket. Was able to get it into the long vacant hole and pump grease. Fitting worked perfect - did not leak, and looking...

Re: Press in Grease Fittings - Foot Petal

Actually it looks like the previous pressed fitting fell off. I ordered a couple of both pressed and threaded just in case I go the threaded route.

Press in Grease Fittings - Foot Petal

I am missing the grease fittings for one of my foot petals. It is currently open, no fitting. I ordered one from Bert's, but was wondering now to best place it/press it in without damaging the...

Re: battery

If you don't have easy access to a battery supplier, Optima would probably be the best. I am in close proximity to several battery warehouses, and I was able to get a factory blem (not Optima)...

Re: Death Wobble Fixed!

Thanks for the link- beat me to it! I bought mine through JEGS as I was planning on my first trip to a car show, and wanted to get the tool overnighted so I could do before I left. I ordered this...

I was experiencing the same issue and after seeing this video, ordering the tool he demonstrated, a 100% improvement and elimination of the death wobble.

Re: Coil question

Thursday night - two days before my local Model A tour, my 1930 came to a complete stop in traffic. I was on an extremely busy city street, with no room to do roadside troubleshooting, so...

Re: New model a open car door strikers

Same here - but actually mine the lower two screw holes were skewed so I had to drill them open a little more in order to prevent the assembly from shifting and affecting the operation of the door...
