Re: Viscosity VS Pressure

Most people would probably be thrilled to have 60 pounds of oil pressure. Just keep the oil changed and happy motoring.

WTB 40-48 shifter bushings Champ products thread together style

I'm looking for a pair of the old Champ products thread together shifter repair bushings. I've got a 40 and it's tight for me to get the shifter arms off of the column, a pair of these would really...

Re: 1940 Clock Help - Merc & Ford

I've used the clock works for my '40 wind up and my '47 electric. Both were about $100 each and I had them back working in less than two weeks.

Re: 1940 Deluxe Convertible Top Cover

I'd be interested to know if there is a vendor that makes them also. I had the upholstery shop make one from scratch when they did my top but I'm not super happy with it. They said they couldn't find...

Re: Ongoing problem 1946 v8

How's the timing? If it's overly advanced it will be hard to start when hot.

Re: AOD transmission in a '67 mustang

Here's a pretty comprehensive article on how to do it, it seems pretty straightforward.

Re: 1940 Ford fuel gauge issue

Alright so I decided to revisit the stock sending unit. I popped the cap off and looked at the links that 19fordy posted. I see the points and everything appears to be in decent shape, although a...

Re: 1940 Ford fuel gauge issue

Are you sure about that? The car is negative ground. With the sending wire off it reads E, when grounded it reads F.

Re: 1940 Ford fuel gauge issue

I'll bump this back up with some more information. The car is 12v, but I'm using a Mustang instrument cluster voltage reducer like this to power the fuel gauge. When I ground the wire that goes on...

Re: Feedback on by pass spin on oil filter

Ironic isn't it? I wouldn't use the filter in the original post just because it's so damn ugly.

Re: Head Bolt continually weeping

In my experience, stuff that leaks doesn't generally stop leaking on it's own. I've had the same issue, I've taken the offending nut off, slopped on some permatex teflon thread sealant on the stud,...

Re: R-10 OD Governor?

The reproduction solenoids are junk, I had one in my car and I didn't get a summer out of it. I started scouring NOS Delco solenoids and now have those with no issues in two cars.

Re: carlisle

I went Thursday, we had a flurry, maybe even a dusting in the morning. Turnout seemed as good as pre-rona. I did pretty good, spent about $500 bucks and found everything I was looking for.

Pickup tailgate

I'm looking for a tailgate for a household project, I'd prefer a '40 tailgate with the V8 stamp, but I'd be interested in anything. Rough shape is okay, not looking to spend a ton on this. Thanks!

Re: No oil pressure on new build

I had an issue on an 8ba where the idler gear in the back of the block that drives the oil pump was installed backwards, causing it to not mesh and not spin the oil pump.

Re: Early Allen vacuum meter

Just clean it up with some chrome or plastic polish. I think the yellowed lens gives it character as long as you can still read the instrument.

Re: '39 running boards?

I replaced the rubber on my '40. As long as your metal structure is in good shape it's a good way to go, but it's a lot of work. You have to strip all of the old rubber off. I used a torch and a...

Re: Edmunds four barrel air cleaner

Cal Custom used to make a cast aluminum adapter ring to use a more modern air cleaner on the early 4 barrels, I have one on my 331. I think I've even seen newer plastic versions.

I've been using the Sta-Lube also, Napa was able to get it for me but it's also on Amazon. SL24238
