Re: Is this head gasket seepage acceptable?

I used a couple of these that have more meat than a heli-coil https://www.mcmaster.com/90259A154/

McMaster has thicker wall inserts, too. https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/126/3504

Re: Selfmade a top boot

What is the function of the snaps then? I've never observed a roadster driving, but I assume the open leading edge billows up like an air brake or vinyl tops do on older cars?

Re: Is this head gasket seepage acceptable?

“ I have found that if I use clear water for the first 4-5 heat cycles and then clear water for 500 to 1000 miles of operation”

Dave, did you mean clear water both places? I saw this advice...

Re: Is this head gasket seepage acceptable?

I'm having the same problem. It sort of has small spits and the water level doesn't drop much to speak of after a 15 mile drive. I can live with that, but I don't want a major blowout 50 miles from...

Re: Water Pump Removal

I unscrewed the adjuster nuts to the maximum, so the rods were always supported at both ends. That was enough to get the pump in and out.

Re: Water Pump Removal

I have one of these https://www.brattons.com/hood-prop-kit.html and it hold the hood up while I tilt the radiator forward to gain clearance.

Re: Seat Belt Trimming

Thanks, Werner.

If those retractors are like the ones my Dad had in his 63 Impala, the center part has a windup spring and you put the belt in it and let it coil it up. Glad they work better...

Re: Seat Belt Trimming

Thanks, Brent, that is what I had in mind. I didn't dream of trusting glue for the working part of the belt!

Seat Belt Trimming

My seat belts are too long and I want to trim them, then fold over the end and secure it with glue. Can you recommend what glue to use? Thanks!

Re: The Terry Burtz 5 main bearing engine blocks are back on track.

Re: Does tranny move forward during engine removal?

I just had my engine out and in again and my trans had scooted forward enough to keep the rear engine mounts not line up with the bell housing tapped holes. I was able to lever the trans back with...

Re: Jacking up car . . .

I put them under the axles for most work. Axle work would require the jackstands under the frame.

I made this bead breaker to take off some 30 year old Allstate tires:

Re: Emergency Brake Rods

I wondered about the offset in a tension rod! Rather than straightening them, new ones seems like a better idea.

Emergency Brake Rods

I took mine off and didn't keep track of their orientation, regarding the offset bend in them(up or down). On one side the anti-rattlers won't go over the stud on the radius rod and the other side...
