Re: Taking the plunge into Model A ownership!

Get someone from a local club to look it over. How does it run? What is your general location?

Re: alternator

What do you mean when you say "Checking it has a 12V battery neg ground". What is "it"? Is the vehicle 12 volts negative ground? Is the alternator 12 volts negative ground? If "it" is the...

Re: using a 12 volt system with the 6 volt horn

I would guess the 12 volt power supply is not putting out enough amps to blow the horn.

Re: AA Engine #'s

Check the number again. The number is too high. Model A numbers were under 5 million. The AA would definitely indicate it being from an AA truck. There should be a star before and after the...

Re: Side mount spares - Left, Right, or Both?

You should add your general location to your profile. You can never tell how or when it might pay off. I have an early '31 RDPU and it has one left side fender well.

Re: using a 12 volt system with the 6 volt horn

I assume you meant you purchased the "resistor". Who did your purchase it from? Did the horn work before? Any pictures? It is such a simple part it should work. The voltage drop doesn't occur...

Re: Model B motor

Attached is a picture of my shortened pan. I left a strip of metal on the pan instead of risking a leak. Remember if you run a stock Model A head on a Model B engine you will need to plug the 2...

Re: 31 tires

...unless you let out some air and carry a tire pump. Same thing for the 16 inch tires.

Are they 11 or 12 inches in diameter? I would sure like to see a picture.

Re: Brakes

My only guess is that there was a kit back in the forties that let you convert your Model A to hydraulics using mostly Model A Parts. Having said that I would agues that the drums are really cast...

How about a picture? I bet the drums are the '40-'48 cast drums.

Re: Brakes

Was the problem there before you did all of the work?

Did you have the drums turned, remember that you can't turn steel drums as far as cast iron, how far out are your drums?

Did you have the...

Re: Ford model b waterpumps

Are you having problems? If so what?

Do you want to know if there is any problem with the pump? They are about the same as the Model A and the same rebuilders can probably rebuild them.

They...

Hardened Valve Seats

When did Ford engines start coming from the factory with hardened valve seats? Is there any difference between a valve seat and a hardened valve seat? Did the Model B "diamond" engines have...

Re: Accessory fuse panel

I assume you have a wire running from the alternator to the ammeter. Run a second wire of the same gauge and connect it to the other terminal of the ammeter. Half of your current will go through...

Re: Ford Mustang 1966+ traveling to POlan

Just curious, is there a reason you don't want the 1964 1/2 and 1965 models? Have you decided between a convertible, a hatchback or a coupe? Do you want to hold out for the GT package? Any deal...

Re: Swan shifter w 4" drop

Cut to length, thread to fit ball and bend to shape you want. I modified a '39 shift lever to look like it belonged in my '32. It was easy. Another alternative would be to post your question in...

Re: Chassis ID 39

The serial number is on top of the left frame rail (and a couple of other hidden places). It is visible without removing the body. See http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_serialnumbers.htm ...
