Re: E vapo rust

Good question, since you have the radiator off you can plug the lower hose and fill up the engine. Once you soak the engine, you can use a pressure washer or a steam cleaner or a pool/sump pump and...

Re: Basic advice

Cleaning the cooling system with the radiator in the car only helps promote the loose rust from the engine to circulate and stick in the top and tubes of the radiator.

If you want to clean...

Re: Amp Meter ??

Hey Phil, I use both a volt and 30 amp meter. But I only have a 35amp alternator, but the ammeter is not voltage sensitive, so use what ya got. I would however install a 30amp meter as opposed to the...

Re: E vapo rust

On this topic, I have a red, rusty sludge in my 30's radiator which I am assuming is a combination of grease/oil and rust. Would you recommend flushing first with a dish detergent/water mixture to...

Re: Out for a short cruise . . .

I am thinking there should be a LOT more grease in and around that Ujoint.

There is a reason that area is double gasketed and the grease fitting lines up with hole in the dome piece. Be sure that...

Re: Basic advice

That is an assembly plant code that says it was built in the Norfolk Va plant and was more than likely the 5,209th car to be assembled. The actual meaning of the number at this point in time is still...

Re: 1931 Model A starter

You can also place it in third and rock the car back. That will work most of the time.

Re: Rear end problem x 2

Well, that being the case, the possibilities are too numerous. Afraid you are on your own, but I would start at looking for a bent or broke shifter fork.

Good Luck, keep us posted.

Re: Cam shaft bushings

Hey Chiliman, normally your machinist will have a source for those bushings. After all, he IS the one that will be align boring that to insert them.

Re: Rear end problem x 2

OH MY, you didn't say anything about that. I too hope it has nothing to do with the trans.

Do you also have the Mitchell OD that you haven't said anything about?

Re: Rear end problem x 2

Oh yes. Since it would appear you may be pulling the rear end, first thing I would do is pull the floor and the tranny top to be sure that you didn't break a shifter fork and lock up at the trans....

Re: Labor Day Pain in the Rear End

*whew* Ok, I think I know what you are experiencing, though Tom Endy would better describe the fix.

If you have shims on one side of the banjo, take a shim from the loose side and move it to the...

Re: Removing stuck shift lever knob

Hey Rusty, if that fails, try holding the rod upside down, then heat from top down until about 4 inches from the ball, and as it cools lay a candle against the rod to let the wax drain down into the...

Re: 87 Octane

Personally, I go to the Arco station and buy the cheap stuff, pour in 4oz of MMO and happily drive around with a few more coins jingling around in my pocket.

My modern gets the same treatment.

Does your Model A steer hard or sloppy or has lots of play? Is your original steering box worn out, or better yet, are you worn out driving your Model A? If so, then it is time to get modern with...

Re: F1 steering or rebuild two tooth.

To the best of my knowledge, the one that Randy Gross builds slips right in and uses ALL the stock parts as far as lights and horn and levers.

Re: Spare tire support

Hey Bob, there were really so many different rear tire supports, you really need to look in the RG&JS 22-13 to find the one that applies to your car.
