Is this a Delco 10SI alternator ? In the 10SI there is a diode trio that filters the signal going back to the indicator bulb if the three legs on this trio do not match ( one leg shorted or open)...

This is just a thought but you could make a template from cardboard or paper transfer it to a piece of 3" channel iron mill out the area for the hinge pockets, with a cut off wheel sculp the outside...

Depending on if the crack or holes go to the cylinder wall you could possible use Irontite taper pins to repair the valve seat issues although looking at the prices it may be more beneficial to look...

You should be able to use a wire tracker ( tone generator ) to find your short, I believe Home depot stocks the Ideal brand unit. Here is a generic brand one on Amazon...

If you have a drill that has reverse on it (counter clockwise) you could use a left hand drill bit, they normally will spin right out when the drill catches. Although not a normal hardware store item...

I have never tried to take a valve out of a fuel pump, but it looks like the outlet valve to me. I would think you could attach a grease gun to the output fitting and force it out with grease.

I see that vdo makes hall effect sensors their sensors are 3 wire ( the red wire would be 12 volt positive, the black wire would be ground and the white wire would be the signal to the Speedo head....

This sensor produces its own electric pulse and is called a hall effect sensor, It does not use battery voltage to operate. I will try to come up with the proper connection for you. I am not 100%...
