Re: Bouncey Car Needs Shocks

I put a set of Snyder's reproduction lever types on my Tudor, and really like them. I don't like the look of tube shocks on the A.

Re: HF infrared gun reviews

I have the HF one at home, and one from the Snap-On truck at work. They work equally well. The HF one actually has a finer laser dot.

Re: Look at all the holes!

Nice.
I just finished welding up 6 extra holes, plus filling an old heater hole that looked like it was made with a chisel.

Re: Rebuilt Engine

Sounds way too tight, my new build turns over at 30 ft lbs, and turns steadily a bit lower than that.
Better tear into it and see what's up.
Did the crank spin freely without rods attached?

Re: Gas?

There is still ethanol free available here, it's all I use for small engines and classics.
I use 1 oz per gallon of Seafoam, and keep tanks full and carbs dry.
A small amount of fuel in a tank...

Re: Optima 6V

I bought the one in the photo and returned it right away. Quality was poor, and it could have shorted on the posts.
Now I have the oval shaped one from Brattons, and it looks good and fits. No...

Re: So here's my question......

I think they're all made by Snyder's. Mine had too much forward offset, I shortened the shaft to get the pulley back where it belongs to make the belt straight.

Re: Question for engine rebuilders

One of the rebuilders uses custom pistons sized right on the target bore diameter. The .003" clearance is then machined into the block making ring gap too wide. I bought some rings by spec, fitted...

Re: Old car festival greenfield village

The Piquette is well worth the trip downtown! I stopped there a couple weeks ago, and was surprised to see about 60 cars on display. There's even a GT40 there, just a little out of place.

Re: Are there any good prices on Champion 3X plugs?

My local Napa was cheapest but I would have to buy a case of them. I went with Rock Auto.

Re: Steering wheel removal

Had to drill and tap mine. The dimples on the casting perfectly located the holes for the puller.

Re: loading "A" on a tilt bed hauler

I wouldn't pull on the front axle, maybe a sling around the differential housing and out the front, not backwards. Front axles bend really easy fore and aft.

Re: Piston and rod weights

My AER A insert rods were all right at 750 grams without inserts, and their pistons in +.080 with pins were also right at 750 each.

Re: removing rust the old way

I've used Coca cola and rocks in motorcycle tanks several times, even strapping them to a piece of barstock in the lathe running slowly in back gear. Works great!

Re: Does this look right?

I was concerned on mine about that opening being lower than the first baffle. I looked at my spare blocks, and they're all the same. It seemed to me all the oil pumped into that front chamber would...

Re: Champion 3X 429 Spark Plugs

Great deal! Cheapest I could find last week was Rock Auto at $25.79 each. My local Napa said $21.99 but had to order 10.

Re: Wheel work.

I used this process years ago on tractor restorations and it worked well. I found that the anodes needed to be directly in line with the rust being removed for the best results.
I used a stainless...

Re: Window glass

Yes, their service, packaging, and turnaround times are great!
I had to get a windshield trimmed due to my own pattern mistake, and they did it free.
