Re: Removing bullet electrical wiring connectors

I need to replace one of the bullet connectors. I have a box of original bullets. Is there a crimping tool that crimps the connector like the factory did or do they just need to be soldered?

Re: Running without vacuum

He is running a 12 volt pertronix ignition, so there is no condenser. I am assuming that running a electric fuel pump would eliminate any vapor lock problems. I am leaning toward the coil. He took...

Running without vacuum

A friend of mine has a '47 with a fairly stock flathead. It has been running great, but now it will quit after warming up and running about 20 miles. He thinks its the carb, or its vapor lock. ...

Re: Vapor Lock

I agree with G.M. I had problems with vapor lock after driving for an hour and turning the car off for a few minutes. When I restarted it, it would quit after about 1 minute. I now fill up at a...

Re: Check for blown head gasket?

If this is a V-8 flathead, I would expect only one side to overheat due to a blown head gasket. I think it would be unusual for both head gaskets to go bad unless they were not installed correctly....

Re: good idle...no rpm

That sounds like carburation to me. My 50 did that. I rebuilt the carb and it runs great.

Re: Help, 8ba suddenly running hot.

Are you puking up antifreeze? If the gauge is pinned, I would think you would see a lot of coolant lose through the overflow. Mine did that a few years ago - turned out it was a leaking head gasket.

Re: Spark plug Question...better spark?

I ran AL 216's for many years and liked them. When my flathead started to burn a little oil, I changed to 437's, and they run cleaner due to being a hotter plug. Never had any luck with Champion's.

Re: Rumbleseat!!

I looked up Rumbleseats user profile and noticed it has three periods before it (... Rumble Seat). I wonder if that is his problem. I don't remember him having the periods when he posted before.

Re: Rumbleseat!!

Paul used to post about the long trips he took. They were so good, he should have put them in a book. He used to take at least one long trip every year - hope he still does or will be able to soon

Re: Fuel regulator

I had an interesting problem with the Holley regulator. When I installed it, I had a slight leak on the pump side, and the plastic lens on the gauge got gasoline on it. I wiped it off, and it...

Re: What the hell? Gas tank and fuel sender

I did the same thing on my 50 Ford. I got the sending unit from Mac's, and it works great. As it turned out, I thought my original tank was leaking and bought the repro - turned out the rubber...

Re: Petronics

I ran a 6 volt Pos ground for about 2 years, and finally went back to points. When the engine was cold, it was hard to start. When it was warmed up, it fired and ran great. I called Pertronics,...

Mine were dark purple. I removed them, and painted the bulbs green with model paint. Looks great and I can see the gauges at night.

Re: lead substitute in gas

I stopped using a lead additive 5 years ago. I had to clean out and rebuild the carb every year due to a white, gummy residue in the carb. Never had it again after stopping the additive. And I...

Re: Lets Be Honest.....

We used to cruise around at night and stop at gas stations that were closed. I had a quart can in the car, and we drained any gas remaining in the hose into the can, then poured it into the tank. ...

Re: fuel sending unit bob drake

I bought a gas tank from Drakes, but used a sending unit from Mac's. It is right on - full is full, and empty is empty. When I hit empty, I have about 20 miles to go before I run out of gas. Not...

Re: Adding 12V battery to start 6V+ system

Quite a while ago, Rumbleseat posted about adding a 12 volt battery. He ran the 12 volts thru an isolated starter button to the starter motor. That way, he had a full 6 volts to run the ignition,...

Re: Bias or Radial Tires on stock front ends

I changed to radials about 10 years ago and I love them. The ride and handling improved 100%. But, the bias tire does have a nicer profile.

Re: '51 Ford Tool needed

I bought one at Mac's in Lockport 2 years ago. It cost about $8.00. It was not listed in their cataloge, but at the time I called them, they had them in stock.
